That’s great, I like that she was straightforward and announced the single then the album and that’s it, no droplets or like 2-3 songs until one smashes and then an album.

I think UMG removing their songs of Tik Tok might have something to do with it too. They can't try to make yes, and? more viral on there or hype up a new song/snippets, so a blind release takes the risk of boring her audience with another meh song away

Y’all are so easily fooled into believing a mainstream label puppet (aka any artist signed to a label of her caliber) has true artistic intentions that they are exercising purely for the art. This is a decision made by her and her label to squeeze the richest milk out of this album, especially when the first single was received along the “meh” line.

OT: I was hoping for the 2nd single a week prior to the album, so this doesn’t change much, I think she’ll have the next music video dropping on release week too, Ariana (almost) always chooses the singles she wants not the GP favorites, she ignored greedy, everytime, NASA, bloodline, etc, the only times she listened the fans was breathin and pov (and barely promoted them)

Eh they simply don't wanna risk it all by releasing a single and that song doesn't do well on the charts. Yes and feels a bit frontloaded so that probably pointed they're scared of an actual floppy 2nd single.

 

It's smart to release the album and see which track people will gravitate towards to naturally, so they can properly work on it.
