DamianSolo Posted February 2 Posted February 2 I mean, yeah, that's cool and down-to-earth of them—but don't they have anything else important to be worried about?

They behave the same way as Elon Musk fanboys, forever simping for a billionaire and excusing her avoidance of any responsibility with her power and connections. Just watch. They're coming for me any second! Most of us agree that her jet usage is irresponsible but we’re also aware there’s not a socially conscious alternative right now, for her. It’s called nuance. Get some. 18 minutes ago, Just a Gay on ATRL said: “In a roundabout way, she did inspire climate activism” ?? Is that not what was said? I am basically just saying the same thing just worded slightly differently. Lmao. Her reckless endangerment of our world has incited climate activism in others, it’s a separate statement from calling -her- a roundabout climate activist, which she is not

The White House issued a statement about *****graphic AI pictures of Taylor being generated online by trolls (something that has been happening to both celebrities and the general public for over a decade) and actively seeks her approval/support to win the next US election. She has more social pull than any other person on this planet right now and is more famous than anyone else according to her fans. But whenever I suggest she should speak out and put pressure on Biden, her fans dog pile me, downvote me, and tell me it's not her responsibility! What are your thoughts on that? 1
Arrows Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Everyone here being so mad it this without Taylor herself even lifting finger, as always 1

If an arsonist burns down a forest and an upset public plants trees in response, would we call the arsonist a climate activist? Of course not. We could say, as PoisonedIvy said, the public was inspired to climate activism. But these are not equivalent statements. Edited February 2 by Goaty
Raptus Posted February 2 Posted February 2 (edited) What next? Posting "Ready for it?" as the earthquake warning? Edited February 2 by Raptus 1
OrgVisual Posted February 3 Posted February 3 I thought it would be about carbon emission, not this nonsensical "gen-z" intern mess

Yes, the nuance here is that not only is it NOT her responsibility, duty, or place to resolve a geopolitical conflict with decades (if not centuries) of religious and ethnic strife behind it… but that she also CAN’T. Like, you all want to believe that if Taylor Swift said “free Palestine!” The US would succumb to pressure and suddenly revoke all of their financial and cultural support for Israel when that just isn’t true. No matter how much attention Taylor’s name generates in the media, no matter how much she is able to sway her fanbase and casual listeners, she is not going to change the leadership of the USA. The government and military act on their interests regardless of public opinion or cultural backlash. That’s not going to change because of a popular singer. All of that in mind, I didn’t even -touch- on Taylor’s responsibility to keep her fanbase safe and the rest of her 100+ tour dates this year. In what world would angering the warmongering supporters of Israel create a safe environment at her shows for the tens of thousands of people in her midst every night? God forbid some sort of terroristic tragedy befall one of the shows she’s hosting all just because she wanted to take a stance that provokes a polarized community. Last but certainly not least, I support the liberation of the Palestinian people and I’m aware the onus of that liberation is on the legislative bodies that be, not the entertainers that exist outside of the political climate. Thus, myself and others have placed the pressure on our senators and representatives accordingly. I’m not going to fault any entertainers for speaking up one way or another or for not speaking up at all. Theres the nuance you asked for! 1
