Inside Biden’s Anti-Trump Battle Plan (and Where Taylor Swift Fits In)

Quote

And other Biden aides are drafting wish lists of potential surrogates, including elected officials, social media influencers and the endorsement of their wildest dreams: the global superstar Taylor Swift.

Quote

The biggest and most influential endorsement target is Ms. Swift, 34, the pop sensation and N.F.L. enthusiast, who can move millions of supporters with an Instagram post or a mid-concert aside. She endorsed Mr. Biden in 2020 and, last year, a single Instagram post of hers led to 35,000 new voter registrations. Fund-raising appeals from Ms. Swift could be worth millions of dollars for Mr. Biden.

Gov. Gavin Newsom of California, a top Biden surrogate, all but begged Ms. Swift to become more involved in Mr. Biden’s campaign when he spoke to reporters after a Republican primary debate in September. “Taylor Swift stands tall and unique,” he said. “What she was able to accomplish just in getting young people activated to consider that they have a voice and that they should have a choice in the next election, I think, is profoundly powerful.”

The chatter around Ms. Swift and the potential of reaching her 279 million Instagram followers reached such intensity that the Biden team urged applicants in a job posting for a social media position not to describe their Taylor Swift strategy — the campaign had enough suggestions already. One idea that has been tossed around, a bit in jest: sending the president to a stop on Ms. Swift’s Eras Tour.

Didn't she endorse a Senate candidate a few years ago who lost in a landslide?

Western politics have hit the lowest common denominator... No ideas, no actual work for the people, just marketing and facade to steal from the people for the already rich.

Both of them are trash anyway

Instead of carrying out anti-Trump campaigns, the Democrats should bring valid arguments to their support, a valid economic and cultural development project, promises of welfare and above all culturally valid, cultured politicians, great speakers and also recruit great technicians such as economists, scientists, writers and industrial. You can't think of winning just because "we are the lesser evil", it doesn't work anymore either in Europe or in the USA

As for Taylor, I believe she will stay as far away from politics as she was during the pre-2018 era

The Democrats put way too much stock into celebrity endorsements. As big as Taylor is, her Marsha Blackburn campaign did little to stop her from being re-elected.

Taylor shouldn't do charity. That old fart who is soon to be in his death bed is extremely ungrateful.

Trumpsters and Democrats are so obsessed with her on twitter. You can tell the trumpsters are a bit concerned about her influence. And the bidenators are sitting there patiently waiting for her endorsement. Can they both leave her alone geez :ace:

First of all I hate both of them.

Why a 80 year old man is still a candidate?? Trump is trash too.

I don't get it.

So much ageism toward someone like madonna.

But no ageism whatsoever because he is male at the 80s.

And he's still running the election. Lol

And getting desperate and try to reach celebs helping hands.

Us politics got messy and hit all time low.

Trump is the worst too.

Learn from France and Canada.

They have young and handsome president and prime minister.

Here they go begging for endorsements from big celebs, accusing everyone of being a Russian agents and spies, and guilt-tripping people to vote for that senile hag because...he's no Trump!

This reads like a Trump Twitter tirade.

Instead of propping up new viable candidates, they're relying on... celebrity endorsements?

Nothing was learned from 2016.

Not to wish death upon anybody but the world would be a better place if both Biden and Trump croaked

I hate how influential American politics is upon the rest of the world

Neither are worth endorsing. She should stay far away from this disaster.

The audacity

Instead of listening to the democratic crowd, he wants to make it about a big star sponsoring him

no wonder his approval score is in the trash

That was in 2018, at her weakest point commercially. She's 10 times more famous now. Any candidate would want her on board

Flashback to Katy supporting Hillary :snowball: Hoping the next Taylor album won't be her Witness :biblio:

First of all - impact!

Second of all, hope she doesn’t do it! I understand she’s likely not perfectly in alignment with me politically, but she has to at least see that the Democrats, Joe Biden, and their current platform are poison. She would be donating the public goodwill she’s developed for herself and gaining nothing, while endorsing a platform that is weak at best and quietly in support of an active genocide at worst. What is the point in that? Unless she’s truly one of those people who believes that every effort to stop Trump at all costs outweighs the serious failings of the Democratic Party right now, it just doesn’t make any sense - and as she’s a business woman running a brand, it risks alienating consumers who are profoundly concerned with the Biden administration’s positions in recent months.

As a fan, I’d rather her not say a single word than speak on behalf of either major American political party.

I swear that these politicians will try to do everything the can to get young people to vote for them EXCEPT having policies that help young people.

Just be a good president, then you will not need her endorsement. That being said, I hope she does not endorse this genocidal monster.

Instead of targeting voters with good policies to win, their goal is to.... get endorsment from a pop star. CLOWN WORLD
