Can Taylor Swift pull Disco? Or any other sound?

If I’ve learned anything, it’s that no one should bet against Taylor. She can pretty much be successful at anything if she puts her mind to it.

She can do disco, but she does not need to.

Depends on Jack Antonoff :rip:

The three Grammys for three different genres has to be the most egregious lie ever perpetrated in the stan world. As if country pop that's sometimes a little less country and a little more pop is crossing genre lines.

No, disco is famous for diva VOCALS and we know Taylor can't serve those. She can stay singing about her ex boyfriends haunting her in the room though.

Some people in here must think trash dj tracks where girls with weak and thin as vocals are often utilized qualify as disco or house. Because the only dance music lane Taylor’s voice could work in is Ellie Goulding’s hook girl lane.

Imagine insulting so many amazing and powerful vocalists in the disco genre.

The absolute nerve of a britney stan to be posting **** about demo vocals when you stan a universally panned loser who is so talentless that her label outsources vocals to Myah Marie rather than make her flat ass sing and the few times she actually manages to open her miserable mouth and make noises that a mic hears, it is so awful that the arena managers pop in a SIA demo cd and force her to lip that instead of making the audience hear the most nasal offkey whining she calls singing...

"Loser" He calls the multi-platinum artist as he proceeds to dive into some of the most miserable rants on ATRL :bibliahh:

OT: I don't know about going full-on disco, but I think she can do great in a song with tints of disco like 'High Horse' or 'Dance Again'/'Vulnerable'. However, I really want her to pursue a 1970s rock direction for her next album. I thought that's what she was going to do for Midnights but :stare:

Nah she can only do that mediocre and basic pop she's been doing since forever.

:toofunny3: I cackle every time one of them brings up the "3 grammys for 3 different genrez!!xdfjsldj". Like, tell me you don't actually know that many genres of music without telling me you don't know that many genres. Strengthens the theory that many swifties only listen to Taylor Swift and her associates and not much else :toofunny2:

I guess streaming someone's music 24/7 so they can accumulate units doesn't leave time to listen to much else. Insulting disco is a new low but I'm not surprised since it's most associated with iconic black VOCALISTS like Donna Summer and Gloria Gaynor.

I mean it’s baked into our culture any music genre pioneered by black artists that couldn’t effectively be white washed are slandered and have their legitimacy as art brought into question. (Rap being equated to violence, gangs, etc. and disco being portrayed as benign, superficial and without depth.)

I’m sorry but what are these genres you speak of? Pop country, pop, and alt pop?

OT: yes, her voice is light enough for disco so it would probably sound good. I would be interested in hearing some alt rock from her though because I’m a bit tired of anything that came after IKYWT

Yes, but why would we want that? Literally every single artist on the planet has done a disco or dance album in the past few years

Anyone can do disco. You just need a beat.

Is there anything particular about Madonna and Kylie Minogue's voices that allow them to pull disco music that wouldn't allow Taylor to?

It takes a lot more than a "beat" to create disco music and being that dismissive about an entire genre just exposes your ignorance.

For what it's worth, Madonna, Kylie and Dua Lipa never made disco music, just pop dance with some very light references to disco and frankly Taylor doesn't even have the range (or rhythm) for that so just stick to teenage diary songs.

When I say a beat, I'm talking about the whole production of the song. A disco producer can make a disco song. A rap producer can make a rap song. A rock producer can make a rock song. The singer doesn't matter. Anyone can make any genre.

Yeah I got what you mean but I don't think anyone can make anything, or at least serve it properly. It has to be the right melody, the right lyrics, the right vocal. Look at Ariana trying house. It didn't work because it didn't have the right hook melody or the right vocals. It was completely limp.

No One of these pop girls really produce music, most of them even write It.

All this discussions "could Britney Spears make a country album?" are so pointless.

If She really wants yeah She can go to Nashville, hiring the producers of Luke Bryan, the writers of Luke Bryan and you have a really country album if She wants to do that.

Well and also Max Martin made a terrible job there too. But I get your point. Your perspective is from being able to make it good. I was coming from a "anyone can make anything, maybe not good enough, but they can" perspective
