Specter Posted February 1 Posted February 1 You know, I'd like to just de-center Minaj and bring it back to someone that actually matters: Megan! I hope she feels all the love in the world right now. She deserves it, especially the hell she's been put through over the last years, which I think is the most out of the new rap girls (Cardi and Doja). I can't imagine how happy she must feel that this record-breaking, no-hook-having rApPiTy RaP song is SMASHING. It's a sight to behold, #1 or not. I thought Cobra was such a refreshingly vulnerable song, and felt really bad when it didn't do well. But that doesn't matter, Hiss is vengeance on multiple fronts. Were Minaj not a menace, I'd be willing to extend her the same grace. There is some melancholy in no longer being "the one," but the way in which you hold on says everything about you. 10 2

Yeah I wish Cobra did more like Hiss, it was a great track with an even better Rock Remix featuring Spiritbox 2

That remix was fire, and took me back to the 00s when we had rock/rap bangers. I think what bothers me most about Cobra's rollout is the reception. Doesn't mean it should've been a success or anything, and not every "vulnerable" song needs to succeed, but largely MEN were mocking her lyrics. Making jokes out of "this ***** depressed" This **** gets me angry, and this applies to all femcees, even Minaj. When so many male rappers release songs/have bars about offing themselves or ODing or struggling, all the 2-inch dick "hip hop heads" crawl out the woodworks to gather in a circle and be like bro he's such a storyteller bro fire. When female rappers do it, it's a joke. 8

Not to be too cheesy, but I was rewatching Meg’s interview with Gayle the other day, and I got a lump in my throat. I go to my mom whenever I’m having a tough time, and I can’t imagine life not being able to call her. Everything Meg said punched me in the gut. And then, thinking about all the misogynistic men who have dragged her through the mud, the people diminishing her trauma and pain and denying the shooting… all in her 20’s. She is so strong, and she deserves room to *not* feel strong and to be vulnerable and share her feelings. Like you said, I hope she feels loved and supported. She truly deserves it. I can’t wait to see what else she dives into on the album. 20

I used to think COKKEE was at least smarter but she’s becoming too mental so they’re about the same. Edited February 1 by Kh-Loud
