EdgeofTeeth Posted January 24 Posted January 24 The actress and director categories were way more stacked than actor this year. There was room for Ryan in his category (even though I don’t agree with his nom), and there wasn’t for Margot or Greta. Both would have gotten in if the film had been released in a less competitive year. The internet is so annoying. OT: No, Best Picture is going to Oppenheimer or Poor Things if the Academy decides to be “edgy.”
TheFireLexus Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Voters will be more turned off by this manufactured backlash than anything. Barbie will leave empty-handed.
Polgg48 Posted January 24 Posted January 24 twitter goes chao on barbie without mention other noms at all, promo is fine but i probably block keywords soon as my feed about to be exploded.

They should have shut out Barbie from the acting categories entirely and would have spared themselves all this bitching. This cute snub making more noise than the actual real noms of this year Oscars need stars at their show… they lack of stars nominated this year

Robbie should’ve been nominated over Bening but comedy performances always struggle in Lead, it’s easier in supporting. I didn't know that can be a factor since I don't keep track of the previous trends in Oscar winners. But I'm satisfied it even got nominated for Best Picture. Oppenheimer is a good winner too. It literally has everything. Good reception both from critics and movie watchers, box office success, and a cultural event as well.
Fitzswiftie Posted January 25 Posted January 25 No, lol. Academy members detest being told what to do and/or vote for Remember Green Book. 1
