The actress and director categories were way more stacked than actor this year. There was room for Ryan in his category (even though I don’t agree with his nom), and there wasn’t for Margot or Greta. Both would have gotten in if the film had been released in a less competitive year. The internet is so annoying.

OT: No, Best Picture is going to Oppenheimer or Poor Things if the Academy decides to be “edgy.”

Voters will be more turned off by this manufactured backlash than anything. Barbie will leave empty-handed.

The damn dramatics over an already 8-time Oscar nominated movie not getting into Best Actress with a performance that's cute but nothing special or outstanding whatsoever. They should have shut out Barbie from the acting categories entirely and would have spared themselves all this bitching.

This cute snub making more noise than the actual real noms of this year

Oscars need stars at their show… they lack of stars nominated this year :deadbanana2:

Past Lives couldn’t even get a Director or Acting nomination, it’s not even Top 5 in the race for Best Picture :skull:

Oppenheimer will win. Robbie should’ve been nominated over Bening but comedy performances always struggle in Lead, it’s easier in supporting.

I didn't know that can be a factor since I don't keep track of the previous trends in Oscar winners. But I'm satisfied it even got nominated for Best Picture.

Oppenheimer is a good winner too. It literally has everything. Good reception both from critics and movie watchers, box office success, and a cultural event as well.

No, lol. Academy members detest being told what to do and/or vote for

Remember Green Book.

Not to mention the entire ethos of womanhood in the film (Gloria played by America Ferrera) was nominated, which is conveniently left out of every conversation.
