Could Barbie win Best Picture now?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

The fact Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwing didn't get their nominations for the movie has became maybe the hot discussion on the internet .

Even Ryan Gosling made a statement basically is all about the others two names snub.

Could this give a strong campaign during the vote session and put the movie again on the cultural discussion so the Australian Actress will get a recognition as producer for the movie.

Are boring biopics shaking?. Discuss

No, the Academy can still award Gerwig if they want for adapted screenplay, and Margot got her BP nomination as a producer. This is a non-issue.

*Could win

Not could won

There’s basically 0 chance

Probably not. It's rare for a Best Picture win without a Best Director nom (like only 6 times ever)

Oppenheimer is winning

This whole thing is a litmus test for people who actually understand feminism. If you’re outraged about this, you don’t!

Rooting for Past Lives atm. But I haven't watched Anatomy of the Fall yet, so I'll watch that first and see if it can top Past Lives

They’re both great, either of these winning would be amazing

Did Arrival win Best Picture when Amy Adams got snubbed?

:suburban:

Social media=/= snobbish AMPAS members

What is there to be disheartening though? Margot was good as Barbie, but her performance didn't spark passion amongst AMPAS voters. They didn't rank her for #1 during nomination process. The same is true for Greta. I mean the Director branch is known as the most snobbish AMPAS branch with toxic masculinity all cool boys club. They won't nominate Gerwig for directing pink movie :suburban:

Not really. It's actually surprising the movie itself got nominated :toofunny2:

No because Oppenheimer still exists

I don't think it'll win since it's not a "serious movie" (Oppenheimer will probably win) but it's so odd how they excluded the leading actress and director of the biggest movie of the year and one of the biggest films of all time :deadbanana2:

Being biggest doesn't mean best, and Gerwig's direction wasn't anything special to make her undeniable for a nomination.

Robbie missing is weird when you have Gosling and Ferrera (a literal joke) getting a nom, but if we look at the competition this year overall, it would've been more fair if all three missed rather than all three making it. Each category is a separate race, and other lead actresses just had better performances and more passion behind them then Robbie

They still haven't given the Best Actress Oscar to another Black woman after years of complaining, so I'm afraid that they just won't care

I’m sorry but what’s “best” about it? :skull:
