Why can’t these worthless rags ever just be gone completely instead of merging or get acquired or whatever else

they were like the one reviewer that were actually honest and didn’t suck off taylor:rip:

them and fantano are definitely the most reliable cause they don’t go easy and hand around 8’s and 10’s like it’s nothing

Taylor Swift Is basically the MPG with the best average career reviews from pitchfork.

Why every post you make can't be nothing but wrong.

thank god. they had some interesting reviews in the early 2010s but have been steaming garbage for a minute now. music discourse has moved to youtube and social media anyway.

meanwhile all the other critics are out here giving midnights a 5/5:rip:

Yeah, same. Pitchfork was culturally the most important music publication. The Rolling Stone of the last decade.

Also GQ is the one that should be folded. Who the **** reads that **** in 2024?

Nope that ain't it. They Ain't the ****

They were horrible swifties. Always handed in overrated points and reviews to her but did terrorize other singers.

Such a lame and shallow yellow journalism.

They flop now. need to go.

Artists and fans both celebrated a Best New Music win and everyone interested in music knew Pitchfork. Name a publication that was comparable, I'll wait.

Pitchfork had the girls PRESSED like none other. You included, it seems.

I surprisingly don’t care. I’m still gonna form my own opinions on music. Don’t need critics telling me to not waste my time on an album just because they don’t like it.

I think this is the final nail on the coffin for music journalism

There are not publications left that objectively criticize music

Everything is written to keep twitter stans happy these days

It makes sense, and Im glad.

They became sellouts and annoying, promoting Taylor Swift every single time on Instagram.

Dang I always kind of wanted to go to their music festival. Hopefully that still continues in some form

This was always gonna be the natural consequence of the democratization of media. Anyone can be a tastemaker now. And even people who care about Pitchfork don’t actually have to click on the website to read reviews, since screenshots spread like wildfire.

Good riddance. They went from hyper misogynistic dude bro music publication to yassss queen poptimism overnight in like 2015 and neither of these two modes of journalism has done anything to benefit the music industry.

I hope the Sunday Review lives on tho :frown:

Good riddance. No more faux stanning Beyonce and BNAs just because they're afraid of the hive. :coffee2:

This is kinda shocking tbh, I thought they had a good enough following and readership.

If even they are being folded, it's really over for other music publications.

I don't think this is shocking at all.

Pitchfork was all about pretentious critics telling pretentious people what to like. Conde Nast changed everything about the brand to make it mainstream. Their original readers stopped consuming it almost immediatelly.

I’m genuinely sad about this, they were the bigger music journalism publication and their reviews were good

It’s a loss for music journalism, now every review will be “popular singer just released somg, 4/5 stars” in hopes of said singer giving the publication an interview
