DTF Posted January 12 Posted January 12 In 2024 while comparing performance and streaming metrics of released music against her peers, Lady Gaga’s streams lag behind those of Rihanna, Taylor, Beyoncé, Adele, etc. despite having arguably a larger peak in pop culture. A strong gay fan base is loyal and can keep a career afloat beyond career peaks: Madonna and Janet embarked on retrospective tours to massive success, Kelly Clarkson has a successful Vegas tour, etc. But despite all that she has done for the gay community as a bisexual woman, it seems GaGa lost their support after she very publicly risked her career success with Born This Way by being flagrantly pro gay. Even Nicki Minaj has had a run of hits from SFG, Barbie, and now PF2, all sustained by her loyal gay fan base who generated free marketing and word of mouth via gag city for her despite her controversial associations with convicted predators. Yet GaGa seemed to lose momentum when comparing the performance of Chromatica to other records like Positions, Future Nostalgia. Why did the gays get off the GaGa train even though Gaga consistently dedicated her career to the LGBT? 2 37

Tamera Posted January 12 Posted January 12 She (smartly) abandoned them first. When she was political they said she's fake or said just shut up and sing bops. Ask and ye shall receive. 1 1 3
Illuminati Posted January 12 Posted January 12 The moment she drops something you guys will be begging in atrl HQ to shut the fans up. It's the same cycle every time 9
Redstreak Posted January 12 Posted January 12 (edited) She hasn’t had a good album in several cycles now Edited January 13 by Redstreak 1 2 11
St. Charles Posted January 12 Posted January 12 I’d argue she still has a really strong and supportive fan base and likely always will. 1

They literally don't. Spotify Daily Artists: 53. Adele 55. Lady Gaga 66. Beyoncé + Youtube: Gaga: 4,2M daily views Adele: 3.8M daily views Beyoncé: 3.1M daily views Both of them have had an era more recently than Gaga. Edited January 12 by SweetOreosOfHeaven 12 7

Yes, Gaga has outstreamed Beyoncé while she's active plenty of times. Her catalogue is doing much better, next era she will very likely surpass Beyoncé in overall streams. 2 1
iiswhoiis_max Posted January 12 Posted January 12 I attended Chromatica Ball and can assure you the gays are still as present as ever. 2 2 2

Erreur2 La Nature Posted January 12 Posted January 12 (edited) I think most gay males enjoy Lady Gaga to some extent actually but it is true that many of her fans left the boat during and after the Artpop era. Edited January 12 by Erreur2 La Nature 3
Gelato Posted January 12 Posted January 12 They haven't abandoned her. But she keeps a lower profile now and takes longer breaks between albums, so there's less to talk about. 3
Strawberry Bubble Posted January 12 Posted January 12 They haven't abandoned her. She is literally the biggest gay icon of the 21st century, and she shares this privilege with iconic figures like Madonna, Cher, Britney, etc. Gaga IS queer culture 7 1 3
