Triton Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Madonna work, yes, Gaga’s was just shock factor as well so a big reach and Nicki a damn sneak. Anyways, an actual gay man ruffling religious feathers will always be welcome. I might not like the project but if it gets them riled up, good for him. 2 1
getBusy Posted January 10 Posted January 10 He’s right, it’s exhausting to think that because others have used a certain concept nobody else can use it again. HOWEVER, if you’re using a concept that’s been used before, people ARE going to compare, so suck it up.
Jay07 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 He posts and makes art like an ATRLer. Superficial shock factor without substance. 1 1 3
mons†er Posted January 10 Posted January 10 he’s right and wrong at the same time. gays are always quick to point out when someone has copied another artist and who did it first. however, he should care about what Madonna and Lady Gaga did. they were pioneers and so pivotal in moving music in a more creative, political and forward thinking space. LNX not caring is the problem with today’s musicians. how are you giving your best and moving the needle in the right direction if you haven’t done your research and found a way to make it your own? it’s only but so long the gimmick of being a black queer ‘rapper’ is gonna last. 2 1

Popular Post _Fey Posted January 10 Popular Post Posted January 10 Gays rewriting history acting like Judas was an moment is so funny to me. The song charted for 3 weeks and the single was replaced by Edge of Glory a month later. Thank god Nas isn't looking to it for inspiration. He should want to make a splash and also succeed. 10 4 7 5

Judas has had abit of a cultural resurgence in recent years with Gen Z finding it. The music video is approaching 500 million views on Youtube and it's closing in on 500k daily streams on Spotify. It's never going to be the smash the way Like a Prayer did, but let's not act like its completely forgotten. 3

They said the same thing about Rap in general It's basically the same as Mariah not finding Madonna relevant to her career in the 90s... What does this old, no shade, person have to do with my Work??? Idc how you want to word it, they have nothing to do with what Nas is doing and he's voicing it.

It's going viral recently but it definitely wasnt this major moment some are trying to make it out to be, I mean to compare it to Like a Prayer 1

I think many people are talking about the music video for 'Alejandro,' which was very controversial and significant at the time. 1

LittleStarmen Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Not sure he has the music to back up these claims 1
GraceRandolph Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Why do some Gen Z pride themselves on being poorly read and not knowing their history? 5
Chiidish Posted January 11 Posted January 11 9 pages but somehow he's being misogynistic for saying he's not trying to directly copy people for the concept of borderline sacrilegious art and just want to pursue music on his own terms. While at the same time most of you in here are agreeing with the same people calling us groomers and think NONE of this vitriol is linked to racism or homophobia?????? Y'all are demanding he lay down some laurels when all he did was try to promote a single and didn't even bring up Gaga or Madonna into the conversation until y'all kept harassing him about it? I quite expect if some of you were smart enough you would see that a lot of backlash that Madonna or Gaga faced with this imagery were linked to misogony (like almost every oppressed group is linked to the same perpetrators mind you). So to say that there's no racism or homophobia linked to the vitriol that you all are actively contributing to --in a time where this looming Project 2025 is so clearly linked to right wing Christian-Fascist-Racist-Nationalism-- and that it's just antics when he does it and lack of artistry says a lot about your own biases. The song isn't even out yet mind you the icing on the cake is lecturing a black gay man on his relationship to religion, YOU CANNOT make this **** up 2 1

The struggles of a black boy growing up under the chokehold of Christianity is an experience that can’t be chalked up to Madonna or Gaga, and if he feels that what he is doing is independent of past artists then I don’t doubt him for one second.
