Sabrina Carpenter Posted January 10 Posted January 10 well there goes a portion of people that will listen to your new song #DOA
mrpartyrocker Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Not some people turning this into a “black guy” conversation. Y’all trying to play the racism card to prove your point cos u got no other valid reasons. ot: he is tired, he is out of date and he aged like milk. If I was actually rooting for him in 2020, now I think he’s just an attention seeker that gets mad if he doesn’t get the attention he needs. I think he’s more angry at the fact that people don’t actually care about his music that much (and his streams show) than the actual comparison. Also I don’t agree with individuals like him that refer to other people as “gays” especially as a gay person. It’s negative and unnecessary in 2024. 12 1 1
chosensparkles Posted January 10 Posted January 10 he's a non factor and most of his music is trash... I Would be mad too
mrpartyrocker Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Also the difference between him and Gaga/Madonna is that they knew how to deal with controversy. If you know your art is about to cause some conversations you don’t get mad at it, because you knew that was going to happen. Madonna and Gaga knew how to ignore it and deal with it with CLASS. 12 1

He's not doing anything they didn't to. No one was praising Madonna or Gaga at the time of their respective releases

It’s negative and unnecessary in 2024. girl Industry Baby and Old Town Road are two of the most streamed songs of the decade (OTR last I checked is the most streamed song of all time). he's definitely has the sales and streams to back it up. HOWEVER, that was before - can he top himself and do it again is the question and relying on the old tired religion card is tired and old.
suburbannature Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I mean, I understand his point but the quality is just not there. I also don’t think what he’s doing is all that different from imagery that artists have previously released.
ForgottenSoul Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I mean he's not wrong? 5 hours ago, EdgeofTeeth said: well he should gaf what they did because he’s emulating the shock factor they both had but with absolutely none of the substance Or all of the artists did what they wanted and it was randomly considered shocking just like he is?
cuteboyzay Posted January 10 Posted January 10 (edited) I mean I don’t agree with him at all, and they are LEGENDS and have done so much. And have created FARRRR better works than Nas has ever even thought of. But in the same vein they are YT women (one of the least oppressed groups) that heavily used minorities, shock factor, and things from the LGBT community to get where they are now (some of the most oppressed people in the world today). I LOVE what they have done, but there are many POCs that also do not care or gaf about what artists like Madonna and Gaga have done for a lot of reasons. One of them being possibly being “culture vultures” for the sake of fame and notoriety. I know they have done so much for the community, and I love them. And Lil Nas has to realize that they helped TREMENDOUSLY pave the way for him too. But y’all have to realize there are many POCs that truly don’t hold the same respect for Gaga and Madonna as some other people do. Edited January 10 by cuteboyzay 1 6
God_Donna Posted January 10 Posted January 10 What does lil nas’s face, music and overall talent have in common ? Flopping. 2
sherloid_bai Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I'm surprised he's gone down the controversy route again to promote the new song when Industry Baby was much more successful than CMBYN in the short and long run without the controversy
Tamera Posted January 10 Posted January 10 He is right and he should say it. I'm sick of people acting like Madonna invented everything, didn't copy those who came before, and wasn't highly problematic. Let's not even get into Gaga. I'm glad the person who said it is black and gay - people won't come down on him for saying it. King! 1
Shelter Posted January 10 Posted January 10 His music doesn’t stand up for itself. He needs the shock factor but based on them pics I seen. It looks tragic. He is doing the Kanye thing with celebs.

Thisss and gay or not, he’s still a man The standard for women is constantly being critiqued, so they know how to deal with it. He clearly does not.

PoisonedIvy Posted January 10 Posted January 10 1 hour ago, Ari29 said: As another black gay, this is completely BS. This guy is too in tuned with popular culture to not recognize their influence and not know there would be comparisons. The tweet itself is a ploy. The fact you’re gullible to his type of marketing is both funny and sad. I’m not gullible to his type of marketing. I don’t give him the negative outrage he’s baiting out of yall, you’re the one falling for it. I don’t care for him or his music so I don’t stream it but I also don’t do his marketing for him by boosting his engagements the way yall do by publicly denouncing him
loveisdead9582 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I get what he’s trying to say but the phrasing was… meh. He’s saying that he’s his own artist and will do what he wants how he wants to do it. He’s not trying to emulate what those who came before him had done. 1

Machete Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I hate him but he's right. Gen X and Millennial Gays thinking any normal person born after the OJ Simpson trial knows whatever tf Madonna did back in the 80s He is just continuing his ongoing controversy fishing desperation. No relation to what other pop stars have done.
