ATRL Moderator khalyan Posted January 10 ATRL Moderator Posted January 10 He’s so annoying this era The obvious bait with the first single, the preplanned outrage response even though nobody is really upset just annoyed he’s keeping this schtick up. His response here reads as misogynistic too, but unfortunately a lot of gay men think they are exempt from this kind of criticism. 14
stevenisFADING Posted January 10 Posted January 10 idk why y'all are saying page 6/7 of this when at the end of the day that's not gonna translate to streams and sales. good luck to it or whatever. 3
Lady Claire Posted January 10 Posted January 10 At least he's aware, bc it's actually offensive to compare Gaga and Madonna's work and legacy to his TikTok bait, SNL skit ass material 1 1
mxoonlight Posted January 10 Posted January 10 he’s lucky liddos have been largely sedated by now, otherwise his twitter account would already be gone 6 1
Erotic Posted January 10 Posted January 10 You can take the gay man out of the forums, but you can’t take the forums out of the gay man 1 10

That’s the issue for me. Say you’re inspired if you say anything at all, not that you don’t give a ****

As Scorsese work on Jesus Christ and many other things. And of course the religious provocative art was already made by musicians way before madonna. The point here is if what Nas makes has depth like madonna and Gaga made. Not if Madonna invented It before of Gaga cause no One of them were the First to make nothing. In pop music Madonna, as a female artist was the first. And by her terms, not doing like others. In a decade where Reagan was president, aids was forbiden to discuss, morality was standard for how to live. She didn`t follow, she just did her thing. 2 2 1
imabadkid Posted January 10 Posted January 10 (edited) HOLD THE PHONE -- mizgirl there is no Lil Nas X without Gaga and Madonna LIKE WUT?!!!! I'm rooting for him because there's still A LOT of homophobia out there and there's soooooooo many people rooting for an LGBTQIA+ pop star/rapper to fail even in 2024 but Nas X is losing the plot... the era is a mess and not in a fun way and it's barely even started. My guess is he's saying this to stir people up since he clearly relaying on controversy this era 100000% because everyone knows Gaga and Madonna paved the way ESPECIALLY for someone like him like he's following the Gaga playbook to a T even tho if we're being honest she did it much better, Nas X needs to find a way to not come across so try-hard. It's getting annoying af and this is from someone rooting for him. He needs to chill out. Edited January 10 by imabadkid

Say you’re inspired if you say anything at all, not that you don’t give a **** I mean, as a black gay I truthfully think yes, he would have had the idea even without prior influence. Because, before Gaga had even debuted and before I had even heard of Madonna, as a young boy I was questioning my sexuality and condemned by my family and their religious institution. That type of shunning is traumatic and it makes sense for someone to grow up and want to retaliate against the thing that caused them agony. If LNX was shunned by religion it’s perfectly valid of him to feel the need to shun religion right back. I’m not speaking to my own personal support or condemnation of his antics but psychologically what he’s doing has no tie to Madonna or Gaga.
emile20 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I thought the religion shtick was a one era thing, try something new

I’m sorry you went through that, I’m sure it was awful, same for Nas it doesnt really matter why he’s doing it, or where he drew his inspiration, the fact is Madonna is the one that made it cool to incorporate blasphemy into your music/aesthetic as a mainstream pop act. he’s following in her footsteps so to say he “doesn’t give a ****” just isn’t necessary. Could’ve said nothing, but then that wouldn’t be in line with his promo tactics For me personally the whole sacrilegious thing has lost its shock factor. But it worked for him last time and a lot of people on Twitter seem to be really offended by it again so maybe it’ll work again, we’ll see soon Edited January 10 by Orsay
Dante Posted January 10 Posted January 10 yet he's trying hard to be c0nTroVerSial but is just cringe 2
Yawn Posted January 10 Posted January 10 not him sifting through his twitter notifications trying to find something to make an attention seeking tweet about 1
Ari29 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I’d love to see a defense of him that doesn’t immediately bring up his race or sexuality. Never seen one and that’s telling
LikeaRebel Posted January 10 Posted January 10 The LAP video was controversial but it was also attached to one of the best pop songs of all time. What LNX is doing is just a cheap attention grab. 2
Villas Posted January 10 Posted January 10 it is surely annoyin of how gays are pestering him due to his concept every time, but not cool excluding nicki from that narrative she is cleary the worst bait in that tweet and not even any a mention abt it

This guy is too in tuned with popular culture to not recognize their influence and not know there would be comparisons. The tweet itself is a ploy. The fact you’re gullible to his type of marketing is both funny and sad. 2

He was obviously inspired by the same thing Madonna and Gaga were inspired by, their own history with their own faith. That's the only similarity, he turned a golden cross into a transformer... if he was inspired by anyone it is most likely Kanye's religious stunt not a video or two by Gaga and Madonna that he most likely has never seen. 1
