The gag is desecrating pop stars would be more interesting from him than the generic Jesus stuff he’s doing.

People comparing Judas to Like A Prayer :biblio:

No wonder mainstream pop music sucks nowadays... the level of IGNORANCE.

And about this Montero guy... whatever you do honey, it was most likely done by Madonna and done better, wether intentional or not. She is THAT.

A movie like Jesus Christ superstar was made 15 years before like a Prayer and It's a huge provocative mainstream work. As Scorsese work on Jesus Christ and many other things.

And of course the religious provocative art was already made by musicians way before madonna.

The point here is if what Nas makes has depth like madonna and Gaga made.

Not if Madonna invented It before of Gaga cause no One of them were the First to make nothing.

He must be actually through the roof because people are falling for his schemes again and giving him the free promo. I really wish people would just not give him a second so he would vanish

Are people really shocked because of his Jesus Cosplay? He has nothing to do with Madonna or Gaga, he's not even grabbing 10% of the attention these women had in the past.

I continue to be amazed by the things people on this site choose to get hurt by.

Blasphemy is as old as religion; Madonna certainly didn't invent it. Gaga didn't reinvent it. Nas isn't shaking the table either.

Now the tweet he replied to is a whole thing to unpack entirely...

Is he or was he ever part of this specific religion?

All of those references were meant to be controversial and grab attention just like Nas is doing:rip: some of y’all gays really just hate to see a gay winning

Nah we're not gonna do all of that :biblio:

Gaga and Madonna, both Italian, born and raised Catholic, were coming from a place of genuine EXPERIENCE. They were exploring their relationship to the system of Catholicism AS THEY KNEW IT. The only thing "controversial" about it was that women were never allowed to criticize the religion that crushes women both in body and spirit. There was SUBSTANCE. There was a MESSAGE. It wasn't just about slapping a Lisa Frank colour palette over christian imagery.

This could be the same situation for Lil Nas X, but he's missing the point and not paying respect to two of the women who not only paved the way, but stood up for his gay ass when the rest of the world and the other pop girlies were too scared to lift a finger for equality.

He's ridiculous. He's clearly using blasphemous imagery for attention, whereas Madonna and Gaga had a true meaning behind it and did it with class.

I don't see the issue, he's a black gay man who probably didn't know he was gay until after both of their careers no longer had any current hype. I don't see why he would need to be in their white female lane?

I mean, did he lie? He obviously respects them but as a Black, gay man in 2024 it’s probably annoying to have gays down your throat every second saying that you’re trying to emulate two white women. He obviously respects them, as he said with all due respect, but I can imagine the comments would get annoying.

This site is way too harsh on him, it’s kind of creepy. Everyone’s saying he’s over and irrelevant and DOA, but the vitriol over basically nothing is giving the response that right wingers and Republicans had for CMBYN. God forbid an artist is at least trying to make an interesting era happen.

Lord knows Dua gave us 1 easy cypher riddle then disappeared and abandoned the era, Ariana posted a blurry picture and will probably go back to riding Spongebob nose right after, GUTS era is basically over now, Taylor is jet set and busy with her tour, Tate is treading water trying to make her era continue after Greedy, Tyla is still establishing herself... like this is probably the most exciting thing happening in pop era/image-wise, but you would think he actually became a religious nut job based on how people here are responding to everything :rip:

That too. I'm not a fan of Lil Nas X and I'm not saying he should be shielded from any and all criticism but the visceral antipathy he receives from the gay community and Black community is a bit jarring to see unfold. He's harmless. :rip:

And him expressing his sexuality shouldn't be suppressed in any capacity just like his fellow gays wouldn't want theirs hindered and made it seem like it's "being pushed in their faces" or there is a "gay agenda" behind it.

TBH the drama only kinda worked for Madonna and not so much.

And it kinda killed Gaga's career at the time.

So he shouldn't care about them. But he is flopping big time, there's no doubt about it. The other girls at least had good music to go along with the gimmicks
