This legend is absolutely right and she should keep saying it

I didn’t know Jodie Foster was an ATRL user.

Gen Z is annoying. They don’t value work ethic or really understand it. but Generations before them have defined work ethic by really awful standards and are really close minded to making it beneficial for both parties involved.

I really enjoy Generation’s Z advocating for self and understanding what it means to have self-respect, but I do agree work ethic is a thing of the past for Gen Z.

I think younger people don't see the value in worth ethic because they get next to nothing in exchange for working hard. When the cost of living was cheaper, people had a more immediate reward for their hard work (e.g. buying a house). I don't blame younger people who coast along because there is no genuine incentive for them to do otherwise.

im sorry we value our well being over anything and that we stand up for ourselves

Then don't work at a business that requires you to show on time and know your lines.

Image someone's lawyer decided to show up 2 late for a trial....

Imagine when Gen Z is in control of complex systems like nuclear weapons and power plants.

The previous president of the united states, who is a boomer in his late 70s, was a reality TV star who had the IQ of a pencil. I think we'll manage...

Wages are criminally low, the housing market is dire and pensions are terrible. Why would anyone work themselves to death anymore. Blame the boomers for setting up such a disastrous economy Nd work till you die culture. There is no incentive and there is no work ethic because it does not pay. She sounds naive.

I mean this is not surprising when an entire generation has grown up believing they've had the ladder pulled from them when it comes to economic mobility and building wealth (and rightfully so). You're a lot less inclined to work hard when you feel like it won't get you anywhere meaningful economically. Many Gen-Zers in the workforce right now were kids watching their parents struggle during the recession in 08 and I think that has def set the tone on their views on things like work and the economy. If these business owners/CEOs think that young people don't want to work as hard as they used to, maybe they should push to restore many of the systems that were once in place to make it seem like a worthwhile effort (living wage, affordable housing, affordable college, pensions, unions) instead of complaining and forcing policies people don't like down their throats like return to office mandates.

it has nothing to do do with the cost of living. it all has to do with development and growth. Gen Z is smart enough to see that if their lives are not being elevated or upgraded, working for someone or a corporation has no interest priority in their lives.

however, if these jobs or corporations actually invested in the growth and development of their employees and put them in spaces that they would thrive, work ethic would skyrocket.

you can also see it in the music industry. people don’t song as well, people don’t even have bridges on songs, people aren’t filming videos anymore because people don’t listen to music.

OP really cherry-picked the article for a Hit Thread. She was joking when she called them annoying and even praised an up and coming gen-z actress.

I get what she means and I do not dissagree entirely, but as some of you have pointed out, boomers seem to not understand that for the same hard work they did in the past, Millennials and Gen Z get a fraction of a fraction of what they got. All this in a more brutal and hyper capitalist landscape where the greatest minds are not being used to solve the current issues we face, but on how to profit on everything no matter what even if it goes against humanity and the world as a whole. Not that this did not happen before, but at least they had a somewhat optimistic approach to the future. With all the info access that we have and all that we know, you have to be either ignorant, stupid or a psychopath to look forward to the future. This mindset is also a huge factor. The irony of it all is that we (Millennials and Gen Z) are suffering the consequences of the previous generations and still are blamed for it. The world has changed so much in the last 2 decades than ever in the history of humanity, they are unable to understand (and dont make an effort to) that we have different rules in the game of life we did not create. All these complaints are a result of that.

when will these old hags start taking accountability for the crazy world they have built and sustained? make jokes about sily stuff, but we were not the ones generating conflicts and economic crisis that are still around in 2023. literally bombing people for decades after a world war that had extermination camps and coming for us over avocado toast and coming in late lol taking zero steps regarding global warming. boomers are a huge joke

the fact they think we need to upstand their ridiculous work conditions with 1/5 the money, 10x the inflation and half the rights. ridiculous

Good thing this is an election year. Maybe Gen Z can impress her another way.

Jodie knows what's up. Gen Z lacks perspective more than any other generation. I don't believe that a person from Gen Z can truly understand what reality and society were like before social media and smart phones. That's why I believe that millenials are the best adapted generation. They have experienced both worlds and that allows them to relate to both boomers and zoomers. 2000 will be viewed as the turning point in human civilization, not 2010, not 2020 or later. Millenials lived through that, both before and after, and will probably be the most studied generation of humanity for the next thousand years. You could argue that millenials are actually the greatest generation of all time.

I mean can you blame them, with the current state of the world what's the point in trying? Slave your life away to enrich the 1% while barely affording rent

this old vs new debate is so stupid and feels a bit made up

I have a theory that a lot of old school celebs in Hollywood are bitter that Gen Z knows more TikTokers/influencers than they do any of them and rly a lot of them couldn't careless about actors in Hollywood. The hate towards them is weird, millennials didn't even get this much h8.

She is a legendary actress with possibly one of the highest IQs in Hollywood.
