She's literally said "a community i'm not a part of" when referring to the lgbt community and that's the only confirmation needed. Speculating about anyone's sexuality is weird imo and shouldn't be normalized. Fans that are creating this fan fiction in their heads about her sexuality/relationships need to stop. It crossed the line a WHILE ago. Enough is enough.

Taylor Swift's love life is the least interesting thing about her, which is kinda weird because that's what she writes majority of her songs about and what makes them so interesting. Kinda funny how that works.

Why does she care unless she thinks being gay is wrong? They also say lots of other untrue things about her and she doesnt speak about it. they also say true things about her (jet planes) and she doesnt speak about it. move on girl

The rumors not only question her sexuality but also her authenticity. She only dated men publicly, so the rumors spread by gaylors imply that she is not hiding something, but faking an entire love life. I don't think you try to act cool when someone spread lies about something important in your life.

Glad Taylors people said something. I can’t imagine how annoying it is for Taylor.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a queer person or absorbing art and seeing it through a queer lens. However, insisting that someone is a sexuality that they are not when they have explicitly stated so is invasive and wrong. The whole NYT article was very weird and a deeply weird choice to publish it.

that's why it's called an OPINION EDITORIAL

Taylor.... who cares???

Still  at the Shawn mention, her publicist is messy

She likes the D way too much for this to ever be true and that’s fine, she’s allowed to.

I'd probably have a little sympathy for her if she hadn't threatened to tell everyone her ex was gay in a song.

honestly when you warp your fans minds with conspiracies and easter eggs in every aspect of your life, like, duh there's going to be extreme fans who forget that boundaries exist.

that being said, the fans are still crazy, but Its also kind of par for the course if you are engaging with your fans in this way

Same thing with those Deux Moi stories they were angry about. Of course her fans have taken it too far! She needs to set some real boundaries instead of just sending Tree Paine to CNN with an anonymous comment.

Why did I think people were making some obscure T-Pain joke whenever someone mentions Tree Paine before this

I don't know which is more annoying and worse; speculating on a stranger's feelings of same gender attractions that they don't have or that they perhaps do have, but aren't mentally and emotionally ready to come out. Either way, it's weirdo behaviour.

Holding a grudge over a lil lyric in a song written almost 2 decades ago by a 15 year-old is wild

What's really wild is the hypocrisy of a present-day 34 year old complaining about being called gay. She needs to calm down.

Specially one who made the whole 'gay rights' thing part of her marketing strategy brand :giraffe:

This hag will throw the gays in the bin as soon as it stops being useful for her path to the next billion. She's rotten to the core.

And what has made its way out of twitter circles and onto huge news outlets like the NYT and that she didn't acknowledge?

It doesn't need to be on huge media outlets for her to address. Cheating rumors, jet planes, going after fan art, trademarking a year, taking writing credits from Olivia, etc

but alas.. being thought of as a member of the LGBTQ community rubs her the wrong way. It didn't, however, when she released Lover and You Need To Calm Down and worked the aesthetic for money

Yes, it needs to come on huge media outlets. She cannot control the discourse on social media, and she doesn't need to because this discourse is completely inconsequential. Reaching huge outlets and not shutting it down however lets the word being spread. And I'm pretty sure she's not mad because she is being associated with the LGBTQ community, but because that would mean her entire life has been a lie.

But for the record:

Cheating rumors -> she wrote High Infidelity

Jet -> Tree addressed the polemic

She seems overly concerned about how this will play out with her original core country audience in the south. She will have seen what happened to the Dixie Chicks and fears something similar happening to her unless she is publicly seen as aligning herself as not queer.
