K-Pop is Korean Pop (not "Pop in Korean", that's important). You don't have a "K-Pop" sound, you can release an R&B in Korean and that'll double as a K-Pop song. If you're a Korean artist releasing songs within the Korean idol system, you're making K-Pop no matter the language you sing.

If it's training a person and turning them into an idol, then yes, there is such a system. However, this doesn't mean that the idol can't develop a musical identity later on. Taylor is an idol, Suga is an idol. The only difference between them is that Suga was raised in the K-pop idol system. This doesn't change the fact that they are both artists and creators. If they sing in English, pop music is pop music, the nationel identity of the person who sings it shouldn't matter. There are some Western artists who dance too, and if this doesn't diminish their art, it shouldn't diminish the art of others either. And this is not just a situation that is happening to Korean artists. Similar things are happening to black artists who are squeezed into the R&B category and also latin artist. No matter how much you try to deny it, award shows do their best to keep these artists out of the major categories.

She wasn’t in the group when I got into K-Pop and never checked out her music (I am listening now on Spotify) so I’d have to take your word for it. But Luna still is the best member and that’s on Seunghan.
