You realize that 226 is from the wikipedia article that aggregates their entire discog regardless of re-recordings into one list right? If they have MULTIPLE versions of their whole discog like this that makes the average even worse and makes you defending it even more embarrassing omg :ahh:

Kworb (Stray Kids - Spotify Top Songs (kworb.net)) also includes several instrumental versions of their khia singles, totaling to about 273 overall tracks not including versions in other languages which is WAY more than I had even anticipated. The average managed to get WORSE with 31k daily streams per track:ahh:

I'll actually be fair for 5 seconds. "Flop" group aespa is doubling SKZ track average with 66k average streams per day for 68 tracks (inluding instrumentals, remixes, etc to lower their average). aespa, a group that has basically been thrown between multiple labels amidst a company war for the past 3 years, is performing better on streaming per release than your alleged globally known favs.:ahh:

Remember that fuckass OST for Deadpool that y'all were gloating about a week ago? It's struggling to hit 20 million streams at the moment depsite the movie crossing 1.4 billion dollars. Meanwhile, an OST for a literal flop movie that NOBODY saw on apple tv passed 115 million streams this week. Guess what song it is?

Go back to arguing about Twice supposedly surpassing SNSD despite none of their soloists touching Taeyeon in any market besides whale farm album sales please.

Patiently awaiting a response full of pictures of ugly Stays in arenas and how "global" they are despite their singles performing almost on par with groups that have had next to no playlisting compared to their peers :ahh:

The things you make up in your head  SKZ has a total of 172 songs. Kworb also lists that BLACKPINK has 108 songs, which we all know isn't the case.

Anyways here's how to end the discussion:

aespa's total career streams on every music platform COMBINED (Spotify, YouTube, MelOn etc.) = 6,7B

SKZ Spotify numbers ALONE = 8,3B   SKZ has simply more streams on Spotify alone than aespa does on every music platform in the world combined

and if we also include every other music platform for SKZ it's = 17,9B

Idk, where you got the idea that they are pulling the same streaming numbers from :skull:

Can we talk about how Glucose sales grown around 88% following his scandal because his fans thought he would be cancelled. Some of his songs even got their peak after scandal.

They are just that big and brainwashed.

Do we know if one day Jini will return to music? Is she still under label?
She hasn't released anything since her solo debut in October 2023...
It's a shame, because C'mon was a bop, with decent sales and, above all, all the aesthetics of the era (both the clips and the album), was really great...

SKZ are indeed bigger than aespa though except for in Korea maybe

They're "boy group relevant." They have fans who will bulk buy and mass stream their discography daily on Stationhead but they have no recognizability and no famous songs. Unless they start getting some hits and some public reception, they'll disappear when the group breaks up like most massive-selling boy groups do.

I'm actually rooting for Stray Kids and I hope they can get their first good song. I'd love to see them replace groups like NCT and BTS.

Bestie SNSD's sales were surpassed plain and simple you need to let it go.  They're still relevant 17 years later and considered the top GG of all time in SK that should be enough. It's embarrassing atp.

So are you going to argue that NMIXX (4.309M physicals) is bigger than SISTAR (150k), f(x) (585k), 2NE1 (620k) and T-ARA (619k) combined? :lmao:

Anyway, in terms of relative success, it's: SNSD > BP > TWICE > NewJeans > KARA.

In terms of just plain units, it's: TWICE > BP > SNSD > IVE > NewJeans.

Sister, worry about TWICE free-falling on the all-time charts and not SNSD. Next year, IVE and BlackPink will surpass them in units and then Aespa and NJ will surpass them in 2026.

SNSD was a cultural phenomenon unlike any other girl group since Spice Girls and are solely responsible(alongside BB, you can seethe about that too) for the hallyu wave reaching past east asia. Every global kpop success since has been profiting off the demand for kpop that was created specifically by their talent, hard work, and originality. There has never been and never will be a more respected or beloved GG from Korea.

Yes NMIXX is probably more profitable than all those groups combined, even if f(x), 2NE1, and T-ARA are LEGENDARY and NMIXX is not. Kpop is bigger now and yes that's because of soshi, but they weren't able to reap the benefits of their own trailblazing due to Chris Lee having a personal vendetta. It just is what it is, pretending numbers don't matter at all just makes you look delusional, even if your heart is in the right place.

Terrible argument seeing as Aespa has had 2 years and 10 months less than SKZ to get streams. SKZ also have 16 comebacks and 7 Japanese eras. Aespa have 7 comebacks and 1 Japanese era.

On top of that,

Spotify (9/7/24) - 2.738B

YouTube (6/24/24) - 2.6B

Melon (6/19/24) - 1B

Even with outdated numbers, that's over 6.3B+ streams. Explain to me how Genie, YouTube, VIBE, Apple Music, Melon, etc. add less than 400M streams to Aespa's total streams. :skull:

Why was this better than everything SheinJeans, ILLICIT, arepa, LesMis, etc. released in the last two years? :jonny5:

Posted (edited)

also twix had a shaky, payola-fueled start but their talent and discography has become undeniable over the years and they've earned their spot in the kpop canon as SNSD's daughters. Every time I see somebody still denying that in 2024 it's always either a pressed blink and/or out of touch millenial stuck in 2012. :rip:

Grow up, it was very possible for kpop as a whole to be a fad but it's because of groups like Twix and BTS that the hype was able to sustain itself and SNSD was able to be the start of a 2nd hollywood that doesn't exclude half the world's population from being represented.

This song was serious so good and had no business to be that catchy.
