She deliberately wants to sound nasal since 2020 as this technique puts less strain to her voice and she can reach her upper register easier, she was way too chesty in the past and has found her new technique works better at present. She mentions this in an interview I think

If it puts your conscience at ease, most of that set is virtual.  And it's not even new virtual as that particular mocap software package made it's debut during a Kang Daniel promo a few years ago, and has been used multiple times by many agencies across many networks.  They just put a new skin on it, sometimes.  Korea has more efficient ways to invest in abusing children.

I would say since her solo debut she has been slowly choosing to be more nasal so it can be easier for her to hit the high notes and have more vocal agility. 

 

 

For songs like 'Rain' it works perfectly and wouldn't be as good if she was chesty like in her early days.
