"Global music companies like Universal Music Group also have labels under their umbrella, but they all center on different music genres to promote diversity and attract more consumers," Kim explained.

"But in HYBE's case, its sub-labels are all about K-pop, so they should go head-to-head with one another.

This is why HYBE needs an overhaul, experts say. For now, its top priority is to guarantee creative autonomy of its sub-labels, facilitate communication among them and re-establish its identity as a music company.

"HYBE should not interfere with the music production of its sub-labels so that they can lead their own musical directions," Han stressed. "Its role is to monitor their business activities."

On top of that, as a music company, it has to contemplate different ways for each of their singers to improve and stand out instead of only being sales-driven."

Kim agreed, saying, "In my eyes, it looks like HYBE's focus is currently on business, not music. But it should not forget its core value and pour more effort in training and developing its artists."

HYBE is killing Kpop :cm:

K-pop industry plagued by growing similarity

K-pop agencies' push for greater sales undermines content diversity

He pointed out that the diversity shown by HYBE's multi-label approach is closer to a "diversity of consumption, or product diversity, rather than cultural diversity."

He explains that the conflict between HYBE and Ador indicates that the K-pop industry, focusing solely on quantitative expansion using similar formulas for success, is reaching its limits.

Kpop is good rn. It's not as good as 2nd gen (doubt it will ever be ) but its such a huge upgrade from 3rd gen :cm:

They are saying HYBE looks like a toddler compared to the big 3 SME UMG WMG, and given the fiasco that is the last controversy and the way it has been handled, they aren't wrong.

Nobody cares what "THEY" say or think...

Also these companies were founded in 19++ and they are global. Why on earth is HYBE, a fresh and local company compared to them :rip: Of course they are a toddler its a 20 years old company and they others are a century old....

Kpop is thriving rn and making more money that they ever did. As for the music and creativity thats subjectively. I am more than fine with the current releases, the other girlie isnt.. everyone has their tastes

I don't have an article near at hand, but there have been several of them as well as discussions about it with the Data to back it up. You can try google.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned much, a group like BTS is not a new group and won't be there forever. There certainly will be ripple effects sooner or later.

Samsung Asset Management now own 1.50% of CUBE Entertainment too.

Too bad for them there is one year left, before (G)I-DLE contract will be up, and we know how competent the company is to renew contract... :matty:
