Japan is such a huge market for apple music. Misamo is #4 there and can still chart in apple music global.

I think Aespa strike such a great balance in their appearance in that they're trendy but forward-thinking, hot and empowered (without alienating ugly male fans who think they have a chance), cool but not aloof to the point of being unrelatable, and importantly, I don't ever feel like there's just one member that's hogging the spotlight, whether intentionally or not (hello IVE).

SM always intentionally planned for Karina to hog all of the spotlight though especially during their rookie years, hence why Black Mamba MV is basically a Karina fancam with Karina having more screen time than all of the other members combined 2x :rip:

SM definitely pushed Karina more than what Starship does with Wonyoung, but the difference is that the other aespa members manages to stand out as well, since they have the natural star power, that the other IVE members don't have.
Wonyoung wouldn't be able to stand out the way she does, if she were to debut in aespa for example

you forgot to mention that she was in a 12 member group, and still demolished everyone in terms of popularity (except for sakura?)

Is this for ggs only ? Where is that Jimin song that has been in the Spotify top 5 for half a year ?

i get that it's not for their comeback (i think) but still giving the notice 4 days before with no teaser is just :rip: they did the same thing with all night, no wonder it bombed (besides it being a bad song)

like none of their peers did this when they released english singles :rip:

Not sure Black Mamba is a Karina fancam, lol. But in any case, I also think they've restructured their management with the group over time, which is pretty easily tracked through line distribution and visuals, with the group overall having a pretty even split amongst the four. Not to play devil's advocate for SM, but they weren't entirely wrong focusing on Karina, especially locally, and you can check on their singles to see how that turned out. Even with the preference Korea may have, the group itself doesn't really push anyone alone, and I like that.

Karina has been my bias since predebut but the favoritism gets to be too much even for me, especially during their rookie years.

It's a lot better now but everything before My world it felt like aespa was a 2 member group and ning and gigi were just there to do most the vocal lifting for none of the credit. Ning definitely got the Wendy/Luna SM vocal treatment and not the Taeyeon/Baekhyun :emofish:

Nnnn every time they sing on those radio shows they get voice cracks. I'm starting to feel like they're doing it on purpose in order to go viral

Several members have very limited vocal range and we know how BEP loves to push them song several keys higher than the demo version cause they love that girly/teen fresh vibes. Just like JYP.

The funniest part is StayC is one of the group who song the most live. They are one of the few of this Gen, who went fully live without any backtrack on a music show.

But many times I've seen them on those big festivals you can see they are on the verge of cracking or are straining for dear life. In the long run, BEP is damaging their voice more than anything else.

Seems like Howl is just going to be an intro like Hesonoo-o in their previous mini album New DNA.

So apart from the singles we are effectively getting 3 new songs then. Not bad, though as a fan I wish XG was more prolific in their output.

If only we got a new rap song to capitalize on the success of Woke Up.

Still f*ck HYBE

The fact they did nothing to protect these girls or even have a staffs that are actually taking good care of them to the point of a 16 years old member crying asking the PD of a variety to invite them many times because she felt being taken care of, and having people who actually cheered for them.

I still don't get why this version of Woke Up is in the album when XG has 0 lines in it.

Yeah it is a weird choice, the remix is long as well and feels like it goes on and on. They could have put the remix at the end so you can just skip it

I know they released Woke Up separately as a single with its own CD but they could have tacked it on here as well (and maybe also included the remix as a bonus in the end.)

At least in our digital libraries we can just swap out the remix and put the original in the track list. :michael:

Wonyoung has always been incredibly striking and a natural draw to the camera though. You're forgetting how Iz*One was filled with It girls yet Wonyoung was always standing out. The other IVE girls also have their individual aura like Yujin, Rei and Gaeul, but there's a difference between not being able to stand out vs. not getting as much focus…the latter is true for the IVE girls.
