I'm asking because I'm truly not sure, but how did the boy groups in the top 10 here actually do?

What's the tea here? Are WakeOne dumping them? Has all the management WakeOne been arrested yet?

If they're signing new contracts does this mean they're a permanent group now, not just a project group with a temporary extension?

The girls that are not independent are still with their companies. Not sure how long the contract extension is (I'm assuming it's 2.5 years) but once it's time to renew all their companies will negotiate.

If SM was smart it would be to make their concept 2009-2011 era GG. The perfect blend of girlhood, but also variety like Oh & Run Devil Run. Especially since Mid-2000's Music is gonna be the next trend next year. Their music should mix electropop and alternative rock pop. Just like Katy Perry, Rihanna, and Gaga in 2008-2010. That revival is next up. If they go with a teen girl crush concept it would flop cuz that is over saturated in kpop, and Aespa has the future outlandish concepts down. I hope they don't try to make them another Aespa clone, or try to make them edgy. I'm telling you, that 2008/2009 sound should be thier core. And since they are vocalist leaning, I say they should go a Kelly Clarkson or Rihanna direction.

I can't help but think about how little money the members of these temporary project groups must take home at the end of the day with the whole extra layer of middlemen to pay

Take the group's profits...

Then WakeOne takes their cut

Then split that amount equally for each member

Take that amount and send it to each member's original agency

Then original agency takes their cut of that amount

...then the member gets what's leftover.

they must really count on the group being a launchpad for a bigger future career after the group because there really isn't any money in it as is huh

poor Kep1er

so dual concept ala Red Velvet but electropop and alternative pop rock instead of bubblegum and r&b, yeah seems like a good idea.

I just hope most of this girls are adults and 18+ above, I won't be tuning in if this are children again no matter if they are talented. What I like about aespa is they're already adults when they debuted :coffee2:

The IOI girl got f**ked by their company, well some of them. But since Wanna One it's actually regulated. The total amount is already cut per the number of members, then MNET take 25%, the company that manage them take 25%, then their company take 25% and the idols take the last 25%. Only Jaewhan during his WANNA ONE days cracked the code, as he had no company backing him he was getting 50% for him.

so Wanna One with 11 members had their profits divided 11 ways, then each member ended up with 25% of that... that's 2.27%

that means for every dollar the group profited, each member ended up with just over 2 cents of it.

werk.
