K-Pop Thread: Taeyeon Sick of SM, Blasts Their Mismanagement

Yall forgot when Kara sued and fought DSP for their rightful Japanese $$$ when they were like 2 years into their careers.

Koreans were mad asf because how dare a girl group sue their company for their fair share of profits. I'm sure it had negative consequences, but those girls would be broke today if they hadn't done that. Especially considering how huge they were in Japan at their peak they deserved to share in those profits, not have DSP take everything for themselves.

EXO's Chinese members sued SM like 1-2 years into their career too. JYJ are the reasons your faves aren't in 30 year slave contracts and at least have the option to renew or leave after 7 years.

And of course let's not forget New Jeans who are literally 2.3 years into their careers.

I'm not saying everything went swimmingly or that everyone who sues or stands up to their company is a good person (Kris, for example, got the EXO ball rolling, and he eventually became a horrible criminal). Like I said, going up against your company means you will lose something, but that's what it means to stand for something. It's a shitty choice, but still a choice.

Anton chose. International fans have the right to choose too - to drop the group.

The whole situation with Madein and Gaeun is so disheartening. I just think of incidents with idols and trainees that go unreported.

i just wonder what's next for the group then. The CEO better be fired. And I'm assuming Gaeun will leave the group.

honestly disband the whole group and company imo but I know that's not happening.

These girls know what are they doing, just like they did in the past when they followed some newjeans anti.

Thanking the same man who said that NJ are objects of adult fantasies is a choice.

There's something very evil about these girls

girl we're not criticizing him because he didn't mention Seunghan or call out SM's bullshittery, we're criticizing him because he specifically said that they've seen what's been going on recently and then immediately proceeded to say that he's grateful for SM

if the remaining 6 of Liizard want to be little bitches and not speak up for what's right and just carry on like nothing happened because they're afraid SM will fire the whole band then that's one thing, but to specifically go out of his way to praise SM amid all their criticism and controversy over failing to protect one of their artists as they receive hateful wishes and death threats is a huge slap in the face that he should've kept to himself

if the other 6 Liizards grew some balls and spoke up to defend their brother against such hideous actions then we wouldn't be in this situation in the first place. What would SM do, fire them all and disband the group? Unlikely.

I understand that it'd be difficult for only one or two members to speak up and not face repercussions but there's power in numbers and SM groups have demonstrated their united power before

MAMA's use to mean something. But I guess I just aged out of Kpop. Even tho I know these all are fan voted. Jimin? Illit? TWS? Really :toofunny2: this the standard of Kpop in 2024. Weak year for hits and good music.

When that China bank pulled its title sponsorship like 10 years ago over some missile thing, MAMA started to means a whole lot less to everybody involved.

They spend a month driving/flying around Murica and comeback with this.  Don't lose faith!  Also, they did release the SOTY 2023, so it was just a matter of time.

Sick. Another example of what companies really mean when they say artists aren't employees (or even human).

Quote

More information about MADEIN's Gaeun sexual assault case has been revealed. It was revealed the CEO threatened MADEIN members to stay silent because otherwise, they would have to pay "compensation fees" if the company took a hit. "Will you continue working with us? Answer yes or no" On a meeting with the members' parents, he also mentioned it was difficult to disband the team "due to pressure from the shareholders".

they usually host the Grammys at the Staples Centre (or whatever the hell it's called now), the arena down the road

it's the venue where they host the Academy Awards
