I was ready to drag but the ILLIT cover is actually good. Lipsynced of course but almost all cover performances are since forever. I was surprised because Heart Shaker is kind of a hard song to sing, even TWICE sounds loud and strained at the chorus, but the ILLIT girls's voices fit nicely into the song and they match the concept.

girl we're not criticizing him because he didn't mention Seunghan or call out SM's bullshittery, we're criticizing him because he specifically said that they've seen what's been going on recently and then immediately proceeded to say that he's grateful for SM

 

if the remaining 6 of Liizard want to be little bitches and not speak up for what's right and just carry on like nothing happened because they're afraid SM will fire the whole band then that's one thing, but to specifically go out of his way to praise SM amid all their criticism and controversy over failing to protect one of their artists as they receive hateful wishes and death threats is a huge slap in the face that he should've kept to himself

if the other 6 Liizards grew some balls and spoke up to defend their brother against such hideous actions then we wouldn't be in this situation in the first place. What would SM do, fire them all and disband the group? Unlikely.

 

I understand that it'd be difficult for only one or two members to speak up and not face repercussions but there's power in numbers and SM groups have demonstrated their united power before

What are you talking about? Did I ever say that I want them to fight the company, or even talk about Seunghan?? No.

 

I do think it's a loser behavior to say that they are so grateful to SM after he says that they've seen all the things that has happened. Grateful for what? That SM allowed the fandom to become one of the most toxic and controlling? That now they literally have to walk on a minefield for the rest of their career.
 

There has been many idols who are little bit shady to their own companies and nothing has happened to them. They surely wouldn't get sued or kicked out for just not speaking about SM in their speech at all.

I think part of it comes down to Korean culture. ANTON is still a junior in the company and SM idols are trained on acceptance speeches to thank the company and staff by default to reflect the culture of respect to seniors/teachers in Korea. 

 

Whether he truly believes it is a different story, but it was probably a difficult speech to make in the first place. He could have said more, but it's a tricky balance because it would also set off the crazed OT6 fans which I'm sure all of RIIZE are fed up of, and make things even more difficult behind the scenes at SM, than it probably already is.

 

Also, most/all of the SM idols openly criticizing the company tend to be the ones with seniority in the company like BoA, SNSD, EXO and recently RV members like JOY, YERI, WENDY etc.

People always act like it's impossible for idols to stand up to their companies when idols do it all the time, even against that very same company. Like know your Kpop history.

 

It's not an easy decision. You're between a rock and a hard place, but other Kpop idols have had the stones to speak up for what's right even knowing the consequences. 

 

Anton basically gave a whole speech saying he's aware of everything that's happening and RIIZE is siding with the company, but they still want international fans to open up their wallets despite being third class citizens.
