Quote SM Entertainment announced on the 7th, “Red Velvet’s Irene has renewed her contract.” Irene renewed her contract with SM based on her deep trust and she plans to pursue various activities in the future with SM's full support. Irene said through her agency, “I decided to renew my contract because I trusted the staff of the company who have been with me since my debut and SM who helped me become who I am today,” and added, “I am grateful to the fans who have always supported Red Velvet.” “We will show our good side through various activities with the members this year as well,” she said. Her agency also responded to Irene's words. So I'm happy she has renewed as it's probably the best choice, despite some of the excessive dungeoning they did to her! I'm VERY surprised but optimistic for her, I think it would be better for her to just stay in SM (whether RV stays as 5 this year or not). Seulgi's position is confusing to me. It was revealed last year that she had "renewed" sometime in 2021, but this press release hints that it was maybe for longer than the standard 3 year extension. We don't really know since SM hasn't confirmed details directly like they have for Irene now.
