naevis is my mom Posted May 9 Share Posted May 9 (edited) "My World", was a good album, but "Thirsty" sounds like an Ariana Grande song, or something that Red Velvet would sing. "Unhappy" sounded similar to "Can't Control Myself" from Taeyeon. "WTMW" started off very strong, but falls flat towards the end. "Savage" from the concept photos, the choreography, the music, the fashion, was peak Aespa. Also Spicy is a fun song, but I wouldn't rank it better than their first couple of title tracks. Aespa's music is elevated by their vocals so the vocal moments in Savage and Next Level really make them good songs, but Spicy didn't seem to have many vocal moments. I wish Aespa wouldn't include rap in their songs instead of including unnecessary raps because Giselle and Karina are better singers than rappers. Savage is the pinnacle of high-concept and cohesion in K-pop, I will agree. And while I'd like to see them stay in that realm, it's not a negative that they don't just rehash that. Almost all of their titles are like that and for the people who don't get Aespacore, they connect with their B-sides.
