THE REASON WHY TAYLOR SWIFT ISN'T POPULAR IN KOREA by pannchoa February 11, 2024 Taylor Swift's competitive advantage as a singer-songwriter is the power of her English lyrics Of course, Americans have American sentiments. She's also white and pretty and the public can feel her sentiments through her English lyrics so Taylor's charms are exploding. But Koreans don't understand English lyrics so we cannot feel the power of Taylor's lyrics Usually, singers with good voice colors, good singing technique and colorful music genres like Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran and Adel would appeal better to the Korean audience But as for singers. like Taylor, her singing skills aren't that outstanding and the beat of her songs are boring and we don't understand English so... Koreans have a hard time understanding why she's popular... Bangtan and BP succeeded overseas because of their visuals, music beat, and rap/vocal/dance skills but in the same way, Korean ballad singers are not really popular overseas post response: [+184][-64] original post: here 1. [+111, -16] Koreans' tendency to judge faces even that of a global top singers like Taylor Swift is quite impressivezㅋ There isn't any other country that's as obsessed with looks as ours. It's so strange. Maybe that's why K-pop groups that plagiarize everything like it's no big deal are doing so well? Although there are exceptions, of course 2. [+103, -2] I think that there's just a specific type of pop songs that Koreans like. Taylor was originally a country singer so even though she switched to pop now, her type of music is quite different that the typical pop sound that Koreans like? 3. [+87, -14] But even if we only consider Korea, Taylor Swift has more fans than Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, or Ed Sheeran... ㅋㅋ It's not that she's unpopular here. Her songs just don't do as well on the charts. If she were to hold a concert in Korea, she could easily sell out a major stadium for two days straight. 4. [+66, -32] She probably doesn't even care if she's popular or not in Koreaㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ she probably just moves on thinking "that's just Korea" 5. [+64, -7] The only country who would judge Taylor's face and argue about her popularity is Koreaㅋㅋㅋㅋ so you guys think that Ed Sheeran blew up in Korea because of his looks? The fact that you guys are critiquing Taylor's lack of popularity in Korea by focusing on her face is so Korean of youㅠㅋㅋ 6. [+40, 0] I can understand if Taylor's face isn't your type but her face definitely has demand in Korea? Then are you claiming that Charlie Puth and Ed Sheeran are handsome...?

Save-Me-Oprah Posted February 13 Posted February 13 The only 4th gen BG that is really touching Enhypen in terms of consistent quality is TXT's 10/10 streak of title tracks from Crown to Loser Lover (and then they nosedived) feel like shit just want them back 2
Mel. Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Some fans think it’s a reality dating show, I personally don’t see a need for it what I took from the poster and what I hope it to be is a music related survival show within the group as the members battle each other to release a solo album/single. That would GAG!! The talent alone that would surface seeing as they all write, produce and compose their music, as well as their choreo

I think it's a Going Seventeen/Run BTS project, where the members are doing everything by themselves in that variety show, from writing the script to the production. What I don't get is why it is broadcasted on SBS. Variety is dying and worst idol variety shows are even getting worse ratings. Are they ailing for 0% ratings... Edited February 13 by Xalric
Save-Me-Oprah Posted February 13 Posted February 13 everyone knows where they were when Can't You See Me and Blue Hour dropped (probably rotting at home because it was peak panny)

Save-Me-Oprah Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Did anyone ever ask how BigShit was able to pull off putting together a whole TXT era with 3 full music videos (including one that was 20 minutes long) in May 2020? Unless they were filmed a long time before release?

The Korean tags translate to “shining solo” so, really what else could it be? I feel like viewers are gonna get to vote on who makes their solo debut hopefully since it’s premiering soon, we’ll get more details the only reason I feel it’s music related because they already have a YouTube variety show like you mentioned SVT & BTS had so it wouldn’t make sense to do what they’re already doing on another platform. It has to be music related Edited February 13 by Mel.
