Japan's main chart has always been and still is Oricon. Honestly, I can say that only Kpop fans share the Billboard Japan results. Those who are interested in Jpop have always followed Oricon, because the records broken on Oricon have always been important. Oricon only counts albums purchased by Japanese citizens, while Billboard Japan counts everything. That's why when the weekly results are released, there are differences between the results, especially for K-pop groups. Because Billboard also counts international sales, K-pop groups' numbers are usually higher here. And if we look at the Billboard Japan results, we see that there is not much difference in NJ's sales results. This shows once again that the international purchases are actually made from Korea rather than Japan. Almost all stores report to Oricon, except for very small shops. So the sales reflected on Hanteo are also reflected on Oricon or Billboard Japan, which invalidates your argument. I think NJ is lucky to have a Korean fandom that supports them by buying their albums even though they are in a different language.
