Period. They sold over 1 million units worldwide, 800K of which were in South Korea alone. Their Japanese numbers are pretty clear. Just a simple example of MHJ doing what she accuses others of.

They did not sell 1 million locally, they sold 1 million copies worldwide.

Reinstate Min HeeHee! right lmfao. the girls already stated that the way ador worked under MHJ was organic and flowed seamlessly from the creative to the marketing side and that the new CEO destroyed all of that dynamic so even if MHJ stays as a producer, they're going to do everything in their power to stop her from doing what she and the girls want to do. as a CEO she still has a say in the sound, the marketing and everything else. at this point the CEO can either refuse their output or simply put newjeans in an indefinite hiatus like they wanted to do lol

Instead, the losers at HYBE tried to downplay NJ's success by stating that the album sold only 50k copies and underperformed their expectations. There's no way any label was EVER stupid enough to believe a first single with no gimmicks would sell 1M in just Japan or could have possibly had higher expectations. Not a single Japanese HYBE release last year even got close to 1M. NJ are the only HYBE artist to manage to do it this year and HYBE is trying to treat them like they flopped. Did you ever work a corporate job or do you know how companies work? CEO will guarantee her control over NJ. Everything under CEO in terms of creative control is worth nothing because the CEO makes the final decision. Her declining the offer makes absolute sense because it will change absolutely nothing about the current situation. 5

NJ didn't sell 1 million copies in Japan, only 80K. Worldwide sales, of which 800K came from Korea alone, were 1 million. That's what was corrected in the article. I also pointed out that the PR guy was wrong to say that they "underperformed".
