Mattheo Posted May 9 Posted May 9 My world is a great album but savage had the identity AND quality that defined aespa 3
ItsJustMe. Posted May 9 Posted May 9 yeah that snippet sounds like AI I really don't think a song called armageddon will sound like an RV track
Harrier Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Some nice sounding tracks on Aespa's album but some eh sounding ones as well. I wish they would sing more and rap less. Unsure of Supernova. Shocked but happy that the solo tracks aren't on it. More new is better! 1

naevis is my mom Posted May 9 Posted May 9 (edited) "My World", was a good album, but "Thirsty" sounds like an Ariana Grande song, or something that Red Velvet would sing. "Unhappy" sounded similar to "Can't Control Myself" from Taeyeon. "WTMW" started off very strong, but falls flat towards the end. "Savage" from the concept photos, the choreography, the music, the fashion, was peak Aespa. Also Spicy is a fun song, but I wouldn't rank it better than their first couple of title tracks. Aespa's music is elevated by their vocals so the vocal moments in Savage and Next Level really make them good songs, but Spicy didn't seem to have many vocal moments. I wish Aespa wouldn't include rap in their songs instead of including unnecessary raps because Giselle and Karina are better singers than rappers. Edited May 9 by naevis is my mom 2 1

I listed NewJeans Get Up as an example where the songs all give the same song but ETA sounds very different from Cool With You and NewJeans. Savage too with how aenergy sounds but it still fits with the title track and Lucid Dream with the metallic elements and booming bass. Savage is the pinnacle of high-concept and cohesion in K-pop, I will agree. And while I'd like to see them stay in that realm, it's not a negative that they don't just rehash that. Almost all of their titles are like that and for the people who don't get Aespacore, they connect with their B-sides. I'm not upset that they're not only Aespacore and I think if you have the previews another listen, they'd grow on you. 23 minutes ago, Mattheo said: We are soop back Saving best for last "Armageddon" being better than Drama would have me gooped. 1

Yeah I'm for sure not trying to single out aespa or be one of those downer stans. They aren't the only ones who do it. Like Yeah Yeah Yeah on BORN PINK. Or Gidle's entire latest album. LE SSERAFIM do it too with the Latin songs & Disney songs on the same album. I guess I've just never agreed with Kpop's need to appeal to as many people as possible with the variety of genres per album but katyberry was probably right that Savage was a one time thing. I'll make my peace with it. I'm still grateful they have a signature sound and I will be listening to every song off Armageddon before completely writing it off. 1
