Lady Gaga's foray into acting sparked initial excitement among fans when she debuted on American Horror Story. However! OGH quickly dismissed her talents as a one-trick pony. Now, forward to the present, and Lady Gaga has not only silenced critics but has emerged as a powerhouse in the film industry. With GUCCI, ASIB, an Oscar, and a Golden Globe under her belt, she has showcased her versatility and depth as an actress.

 

The anticipation surrounding her upcoming role in JOKER: Folie à Deux only adds to the intrigue. While she has undoubtedly made significant strides, the question lingers: has Lady Gaga fully transitioned into a bankable actress, or does she still have much to prove to the GP?

She still has a lot to prove as an actress. I'd like to see her in something less campy

Her roles are all given to her because she’s Lady Gaga. If she wasn’t famous she’d never make it as an actress. It’s all been through networking.
 

Personally I feel she’s unable to emote on screen, and it comes off as forced. Kim K showed more emotion on her stint on AHS.

Many singers struggle with acting, limiting their opportunities to secure prominent roles in movies.

Compared to her music industry peers she's Meryl Streep. Compared to Meryl Streep she's her music industry peers. It's still a side gig and not what she's mainly known for but the roles she's had have been acclaimed.

For the roles she's played, yes she's been successful, but I wouldn't call her a 'powerhouse' because she's only starred in two films (with a third on the way) since she's made the transition. Compare that to somebody like Queen Latifah who did a lot more in the same amount of time

She will never be a bonafide actress. She’s just barely ok in these easy, unchallenging roles that feel custom made for her.

She’s been pretty successful so far, but I’d like to see what she can do with something more naturalistic. So far she’s only really taken roles that fit the Lady Gaga “brand”—campy, singing, fashionista, etc. She won’t impress me as an actress until she starts playing against the Gaga image instead of playing into it.

None of her peers in music could ever get nominated for Best Actress even if they tried. ASIB alone was enough to say her foray into acting was a resounding success. Anyone unbiased could see this

Since she knows and studied to be an actress, she has accomplished more than her peers who have also tried to make it to the big screen.

Although it would be interesting to see her play roles outside of her comfort zone and what she's used to so far.

She got nominated by the Academy for Best Actress for her FIRST major role and everyone here dragged her through the pits when she missed the nom on her second film role. Y’all don’t get to hold her to that standard and then say something as ridiculous as she’s not a “bonafide actress”  

 

like that may be the case in your deluded stan bubble world, but in the REAL world she’s seen as an actress. which is why she’s trusted with major roles like Harley in the new Joker

She’s a serviceable if obvious actor. ASIB was tailor made for her; her performance in HoG was predictable at every turn; she’s already gone viral on Twitter for JFAD because everyone already knows from one photo of her looking at him that she’s going to give serve annoying theater kid doing the most. She may entertain in movies, but she has yet to surprise with her acting the way she used to surprise with her music, 13 years ago.

Some actors wished there whole life to even get a nomination
