Spark Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 For context, Nintendo has 22 games that have sold more than 24.3M (the amount the best selling Playstation game has sold). Surprised?
airplane Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 the last of us 2 tanked congrats to uncharted 4 and gran turismo 1

I assume it'll have a decent boost after the second season of the show comes out, but the sales are still pretty shocking. I would love to be a fly on the wall at Naughty Dog at the moment, cause the company has been a mess since that game dropped. 1
Starshine Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 Horizon Zero Dawn at #1? That series makes no noise and tends to be overshadowed upon release every time by GOTYs like Zelda or Elden Ring. The Last of Us series deserves to be in the 20+ million if that lifeless IP is at #1. I predict Insomniac dominating this list in the future, I can't believe Naughty Dog has fallen off the past decade as THE Playstation studio. 1 1

I think it's because Horizon was bundled in with a lot of PS4 consoles after it's release. A Wii Sports tea.
Rence Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 The decline from Horizon Zero Dawn to Forbidden West
poki Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 Ratchet & Clank 2016 sold almost 7 million copies??? What the **** my estimates pointed towards 4 million I had no idea it was that successful. Crash 2 outsold Crash 3???
poki Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 Yeah statistically third party games outsell Sony's first party games, not surprised by that. Nintendo's overall exclusivity is the main draw. For Sony it's always been the ability to play all the major 3rd party games and DVD / Blu-Ray. The PlayStation 2 was very popular for DVD. 1

poki Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 I'm 99% if we extend the list to include top 40, Ratchet & Clank Size Matters will be there. It sold over 5 million copies.

It sold over 5 million copies. The Insomniac leak said that their Spyro games sold 11.9m, their PS2 Ratchet games sold 13.8m and Rift Apart has sold 2.7m so far. I don't know if that 13.8m number includes Size Matters though cause it's PS2 and PSP. 1
poki Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 Final Fantasy 16 is probably already in the top 50, it should be over 4m copies now. Ratchet really is the Kylie Minogue of Sony, he's known and beloved, no one questions his legacy or dares to disrespect his glory days but his units sold per game are...interesting. 2
Rence Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 I kinda understand Sony’s unwillingness to support some of their older IPs cause this list really shows that the PS fanbase is more receptive to third person action adventure games and Gran Turismo
Eóghan Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 This is just the exclusives though, I'm pretty sure GTA 5 sold 40+ million on PS4 alone for example 27 minutes ago, Starshine said: Horizon Zero Dawn at #1? poki Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 Ratchet '02 / Kylie '88 - successful, but too cheesy for most stans. A GP hit tho Ratchet GC / Enjoy Yourself - more of the same. Some really awful lows (Grelbin) Up Your Arsenal / Rhythm of Love - a massive step forward, the favorite of old school fans Deadlock / Let's Get To It - mixed reception, devs were somewhat jaded but many agree the visuals were great Tools of Destruction / Kylie '94 - A reinvention. Didn't sell anywhere near the previous releases but has a career highlight (Confide In Me / Igliak) A Crack in Time / Impossible Princess - considered the very best. Extremely personal, but was a flop. All For One / Full Frontal Assualt = those bazillion compilations Mushroom made of Kylie's late 90s music. No one cares for these Ratchet '16 movie / Light Years - finally budget. Produced a hit (Spinning Around / gifs of cutesy Ratchet) Ratchet '16 game / Fever - a new peak. Outsold every previous release Rift Apart / Body Language - more serious tone, overall an underperformance comparee to the previous effort but not exactly a flop either OT: So happy Crash has 3 entries on here. He's the Britney Spears of Sony 1 3
Heldenzeit Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 ...until the next Jak and Daxter is released.

masochizm Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 i fail to see why the Horizon series is put on this pedestal, i absolutely hate that game and the lead character… it’s nice to see Days Gone so high up, i really loved that game as it’s not a typical zombie shooter - had its flaws but i’d love to see a second entry! 1

Would've sold 2m extra copies by now especially because of the TV show Also the game actually already sold over 10m copies ww as of June 2022 according to an official press release so it was already known for quite some time https://blog.playstation.com/2022/06/09/the-growing-future-of-the-last-of-us/ Edit: wait nvm it's the USA way of writing dates LMFAOOOO so September actually = June 😭💀 Edited December 30, 2023 by Delirious
poki Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 I feel like classic Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy and classic Tekken should be included in this list. 1
Reginald Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 Interesting list that includes almost nothing I regularly play on PS5 There was a time when I was very much into AAA, action-based gameplay with lots of dialogue. Now I just want to casually have fun. Lately I have been into strategy, traditional RPGs and simulations. I'm glad Sony's library has something for everyone even if I never touch most of the games listed here.
Zaram Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 So happy for Detroit become human doing so good 1
