AintNoOtherMe Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 It’s a horrible movie with great marketing. People pretended to like it and forgot it existed the next day. 3 1
Raphy23 Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 idk the only thing that is still sticking from the movie is Billie's song.
Mocha Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 it was very mid. it's going to be the fad of 2023 i fear 1
Darius Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 TBH I was so hyped leading up to it that it clouded my judgment. Seeing this thread title made me realize I haven't thought about it much since that weekend. lol
AvadaKedavra Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 It didnt last that long but i never seen such a frenzy in years for a movie I think the dark state of the world probably drowned the chances of everything goin pink and cutesy I think this movie would have been perfect for the 2009-2010
Popboi. Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 The best moments in the movie aren't exactly quotable (DTN dance sequence, the montage before Barbie became human), were too wordy (the feminist monologue), or too specific (Kenough). Of course there were some goofy punchlines and some that tbh work (the pageant Supreme Court ).
Relampago. Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 This Barbie… (insert line here) I’m Kenough Hi Barbie/Hi Ken Mojo Dojo Casa House Like… I see these all the time. If we’re being honest, I don’t see many movie quotes in general besides maybe Mean Girls but other than that it’s not like people are squeezing these in to everyday conversations. 1

ALA Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 ... and what movie has been quotable in the last few years? Barbie was one of the biggest pop culture moments of this year, please. 1
Bubble Tea Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 Barbie is literally a bad movie. It's barely even a film so much as a collection of random scenes designed purely to be memes. Aesthetically it was cute but the story was so 2016 entry level uni grad "woke", it was a fun little aesthetic era and we've all moved on cause it had nothing interesting to say. 12 1

Donquizote Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 The movie was ok, but is forgettable. Let's see whether it stands the test of time like Mean Girls.
She-Rah Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 The average ATrler has on average a 7th grade education level so I wouldn’t expect members here to understand the intricate details and meaning of this film. 2 1

The issue with Barbie is that it did not live up to its hype. Uh no? That's a you thing that you can't brandish as a universally agreed issue of the movie. Especially when it is a critical and audience-acclaimed film with a slew of nominations from renowned awarding institutions like the Oscars, Critic Choice Awards and Golden Globe Awards On 12/20/2023 at 3:11 AM, GraceRandolph said: That’s not even from the Barbie movie, that’s from the Aqua song. No, that's "Hello Barbie, let's go party!" not "Hi Barbie! Hi Ken!" OT: The monologue at the end? "I am Kenough"? "Hi Barbie! Hi Ken!"? Edited December 21, 2023 by Blackout2006

BnPac Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 (edited) It's a bad movie all around tbh but the Barbie part and the small feminism part can be quotable. Edited December 21, 2023 by BnPac

The comedy however was for the most part frothy, childish and basic to me. Even the average animated Disney or Pixar movie made specifically for children usually offers way superior comedic elements.
