I don't remember Claudette being unreliable. 

 

Celine has a degenerative neurological disease - losing further control of movement is unfortunately inevitable. It's sad that it seems to be progressing relatively rapidly.

There's therapy, but it's degenerative. Life expectancy post-diagnosis averages 6 - 25 years.

Claudette hasn't been in her life since she sold the story that Céline had a miscarriage months before she revealed it

there are some neuro-treatments along with acupuncture, but i assume her medical team exhausted these options since its rare and aggressive for her. 
 

hopefully they are working towards a cure and other care.
