prettyinpink940 Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 (edited) - The narrative that Shannen quit the show wasn’t her idea and it was a lie. Saying she quit was forced on her by her lawyers to save her reputation from a second firing. She was fired. - Shannen wouldn’t have quit because the money from Charmed was paying her father’s medical bills. - Shannen was the highest paid because the show was approved on the back of Shannen’s reputation. The pay discrepency was super minor. - Alyssa was very pissed off when she found out Shannen was not only the highest paid but had several types of cover approval for external outlets like magazine. Alyssa went to Spelling and demanded a side deal for more money than Shannen. - When Holly tried to leave the show the producer negotiating with her told her they didn’t want Shannen to leave but they were backed into a corner and told “its Shannen or Alyssa” and if they didn’t comply Alyssa said she would sue them for hostile work environment to get out of her contract. - Holly said she didn’t want to do the show anymore, it wasn’t the show she wanted to do without Shannen. Jonathan the producer said they’d sue her for breach of contract and dock her wages from any other job she takes until they meet what they feel they’d lost by her walking out. - Alyssa was documenting every time she felt uncomfortable on set (due to any reason) and was working with the corporate mediator to build a case for her lawsuit. - There were no on-set brawls, arguments or bitchy comments. It was never in front of directors, crew or guest stars because it was important to all three leads they be professional on set. - Shannen can’t recall one time she and Alyssa had it out or one time she was mean to Alyssa on set. - Shannen directed Alyssa multiple times and never had any issues with her professionally or personally, including navigating some awkward studio notes. - Alyssa’s mother created Shannen’s website without permission and was told to take it down. Shannen wanted it to be a project for her father to occupy his time. - Shannen and Holly didn’t want to discuss what happened because it shatters the fan’s illusion they were all sisters in a sisterhood. - If Shannen got to direct her own death, knowing it was her death, she’d have someone possess Piper and blow up Prue so Piper has the emotional fallout of having killing her own sister. - Shannen had a pay-or-play clause in her contract that meant she’d get paid regardless of if she’s in an episode or not. This includes back-end royalties. She considered suing the network to enforce her contract so she’d have her paycheck from season 4 onwards despite not being on the show. Her lawyers talked her out of it. - Shannen never would have left as she really grateful for the stunts and being able to direct. She was expecting to direct four or five episodes in season 4. - Shannen has a lot of respect for Rose stepping in, she was annoyed the press tried to make it seem like there was beef between Shannen and Rose. There never was. - Brian and Alyssa were dating while Alyssa’s plan was unfolding. - Shannen finds it hard to blame the studio/network because they were over a legal barrel by Alyssa’s threat of a lawsuit. - Holly and Shannen are open to a continuation, not a reboot because it implies they’re improving on the original. - On a continuation Holly said she’d use green screen or split screen to get around the cast members who don’t want to work with each other. - CBS is the roadblock to any reunion. Afterglow Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 Alyssa was a mess, but she did what she had to do to become a star. She was literally one of the biggest celebrities at the time, for a few years. Still devastated for Shannen when she really carried that show. I knew she didn't quit, even then. 1
livelikemusic Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 I mean, we know she was fired. This is nothing really new.... it's sad this had to happen, though, because the original P3 were the best lineup. 2
Josh Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 Tell us something new Shannnen. we've known this for 20 years
Vermillion Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 All I’ve ever heard about this series is controversy, to the point where I wonder if it has any legacy to uphold left. 2
superben Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 Shannen should be glad she stopped there, because season 4 onwards was complete ****. The quality went downhill fast Holly did look like she suffered playing Piper afterwards, unlike the early season Piper. 2
Mocha Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 i loved charmed as a kid, and had no idea there was so much drama and bad blood.mp3 behind the scenes 1

It doesn't. These women petty drama ruined any legacy it had. This is why Sarah Michelle Gellar refuses to reveal what happened on the set of Buffy 1 1
Magic_boXX Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 Just finished listening to the entire thing and I have to say, they all deserve an Oscar. Watching the show I would have never thought everyone had beef and it just all seem like petty stuff. Wasn't Holly and Shannon beefing with each other a few yrs ago as well? No wonder Grams had an heart attack.... 1 2
VeniceBeach Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 Piper killing Prue with her new power is actually a good idea when you think about it. It was overpowered to the point where you didn't need the power of three to deal with the most demons, but if Piper killed Prue then she'd have to learn how to use explosions more carefully and it would take a lot more time because of the trauma so she wouldn't rely on it that much 2
WEEKND Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 I tried rewatching the show and I found it so bad. I had fond memories but idk the magic wasn’t magicing Alyssa sounds a lot I wonder if she regrets her actions. She did all of that and it’s not like she got a great career out of it. 1

theweekend Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 lmao atrl and media always making the most of it tbh Alyssa was right to a certain point, she needed to open it up with Holly and tried to make them give the the same money as Shannen was getting. it's not right anyone to get a bigger wage when all of them were the main characters. the way Alyssa handled it made her look bad because she worked only on her favor, though it's not wrong, but morally it is. also demanding more money than the others, this really tarnished her reputation. - Shannen finds it hard to blame the studio/network because they were over a legal barrel by Alyssa’s threat of a lawsuit. lmao is happened because the studio payed her more, it's the studio the one to blame for whatever unfolded after. prolly she doesn't blame them because when it was working on her favor there was no issue.

KingWitch Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 *bear in mind this is Just Shannen's version and there's always 2 sides , would love to hear Alyssa's version of events too. 1

Buffy Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 (edited) There is a lot of new information in this 1 hour podcast episode. Shannen revealed a lot that the world didn’t know. Yes, we knew she was fired, but we didn’t know anything else. We also didn’t know Holly was going to be sued too if she quit. It sounded super miserable behind the scenes and the only person that seemed to benefit from anything was Alyssa (higher pay, fame, spotlight, control of the situation, etc). What was very sad was Holly didn’t ask for any raises during the entirety of the show because she knew it would hurt the show’s budget and they wouldn’t be able to afford guest stars or keeping Brian Krause as a series regular if she got a raise. Meanwhile, Alyssa had the highest wage of any cast member. Edited December 18, 2023 by Buffy
doonerr Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 Not this being the original story I knew as a little child in 2003 1

Yes and also Piper could not blow/kill strong magical beings. The whole thing makes no sense and is such a lazy way off killing a main character. I cannot believe I see people saying that it would have been a good idea. 1
