I mean, Beyoncé actually gifted Jay-Z a private jet and it was the 4th most used one last year. Yet no one ever talks about it. It's much more convenient to focus on Taylor for stan war purposes!

I think the issue that people miss when just falling into the adage that global warming can only be tackled via going after corporations because they contribute the most to it is that the solution will *also* be radical changes to industries that will change our individual habits as consumers because consumption drives this.

 

Of course it's silly and unserious to focus on small forms of consumption, but there needs to be eventual conversations over consumption.

Whether that be for personal travel or the mass transport of goods because people want a special convenience or eight types of the same fruit readily available in their super market despite living in a climate where that's not natural.

 

Nothing will actually be reasonably achieved until people start becoming comfortable with "authoritarian" ideas like limiting certain behaviors. Like maybe flying isn't some inalienable right. Maybe it's the moral thing to do for governments to restrict how often someone can fly or how much cargo is flown. Obviously more focus is deserved on corporations than individual celebrities, but the developed world / first world / imperial core / Western world / whatever you want to call it has an over-consumption problem.

PS: I'm more worried about taxation and stupid "environmental" measures making commercial flights more expensive and harder for working class people to travel abroad. Plane tickets should be accessible, tourism should be encouraged and if you have an issue with global warming force China to stop generating 30% of the world carbon emissions.
