Millennials are not the parents of Gen Z. Gen X is.

There is enough blame to go around I fear

This used to be me when my anxiety was really bad

Posted (edited)

I think this comes down to being indecisive, cause my sister is awful at deciding/picking/choosing things, to the point I have to scream at her to just PICK ONE ALREADY!!!!

Are you not mortified knowing ppl know you’re a lil *****?

This is where I’m at. Making/letting someone else order for you while you just sit there stupidly is like all the more embarrassing. :rip:

It’s called being indecisive and it has existed since the beginning of time

Stop naming everything and giving a term to everything

People who name everything sound so incoherent :rip:

A fast food burger is a month’s worth of rent so I get it. How can I make it seem like the waiter was the one who ordered my food so I can escape out the kitchen unseen?

I KINDA have this in the sense that I almost AWLAYS have to google the menu before I go to a restaurant. I need to have an idea of what I want before I go and then I can make my mind when i'm at the table

I kinda agree tbh. I swear I operated in the world a lot better before I started labeling everything I had as anxiety and before everyone had a consciousness of what anxiety can look like etc...now I feel like whenever I meet someone new the first thing we do is psychoanalyze each other and diagnose eachother in our brains. I'm only in my 20s but I swear I remember a time when people used to just say "oh this person is shy" "oh this person is indecisive" "oh this person is just tired" etc...but now it's like "oh he has major social anxiety and needs this medication and this type of therapy for this many years etc..etc...etc..". It complicates having social interactions low key.

Cause it is what it is

Is just anxiety or being shy

Terms like menu anxiety are just made up bs that someone uses to sound more “educated” and feel superior to everyone else

It’s just BS

Also the consistent criticism of Gen Z is tiring, every generation is different and these articles are a bunch of BS

I used to have that too when my parents had always ordered for me before as a kid and when I never really had done it myself. But got over it once it became routine.

Every generation probably has this, so is it really that novel? Probz just the normal course of life tbh

Being shy and socially anxious are not the same :rip:

One is life inhibiting and the other is not. One is living with constant daily stress and dread and the other is not. Shy people aren't showing signs of intense anxiety on a daily basis. But people with social anxiety need to be treated as early as possible because living with that much anxiety every single day has severe long term consequences.

If a person doesn't think they need medication, chances are they don't have a anxiety disorder. But those who do need to be treated like any disease. No psychiatrist is confusing shy people and those with social anxiety; you can easily tell by their body language and history. I've never met a shy person beyond the age of 8 showing signs of clear severe anxiety. :rip:

Psychiatrists can distinguish between who has a serious problem and who doesn't easily after seeing so many patients. So you don't have to worry. Leave it to the experts with medical degrees to diagnose and prescribe.

I know sis and I agree with you. My point is before ppl would give you a pass and just say "oh he's shy "etc...but now people diagnose others in their head and it makes peopl;e who have anxiety like me feel uncomfortable because I feel like people always know etc (again because I'm an anxious person I think of these things a lot). It sucks tbh. I preferred when ppl would just assume you were shy or weird or something but now everyone knows TOO much about mental health and everyone is being a arm chair therapist which makes life hard for ppl like me:cries:

Jesus Christ. :skull: This is a result of being so technology driven and QR code/app ordering. Ordering through a QR code or app is the worst I hate it. I prefer for a member of the wait staff to come take the order. At this rate the generation of people growing up will just avoid all physical contact with anyone else at all.

do we call anything anxiety now :deadbanana2:

Is this real or only small percentage of the generation?

It doesn't give me anxiety but I prefer ordering on my phone bc I can select exactly what I want, including modifications,  and get a clear receipt

Well I mean that figure wouldn't be shocking would it? Gen Z has kinda been living in a much scarier time than the two previous generations have. The earliest memories a lot of Gen Z kids have is either 9/11 or one of the immediate fall outs of it. They're living through a gun violence epidemic--especially in their schools. They're living through a period of social collapse which yes happens about once a generation except now every second and every last detail of it is being paraded in front of them on social media. The world has been a disaster the last twenty years and that's kinda all Gen Z knows.
