Tragic major news events that STILL haunt you to this day?

What are some major tragic news events that still STAY on your mind to this day?

Lately, 9/11 has been reigniting interest to me. I don't know why but there's so much nuance about that day that's I'm fascinated by. This youtuber is partly to blame for this

Also, I recently revisited the Grenfell towers news story (came on my YouTube algorithm). The level of incompetence that lead to all those 70+ deaths in is mind-numbing

The surfside collapse in 2021 is also another building disaster that STILL strikes a chord in me. I remember following the story in 2021, hoping ffor news of survivers. Instead, every day the death toll rose :weeps:

Of course, anyone that's seen me post on here know that Astroworld never left me to this day. And the fact that nobody on earth gives a **** afterwards (per Tyla Water Remix :biblio:)

And March - June 2020 in general still stays with me (as it does 70% of people I imagine tbh).

The mass shootings that happened in Midland/Odessa and El Paso were hard to digest because of how close to me they are

Definitely 9/11 even if im from Southamerica the event was something really major.
I remember arriving early from elementary school (4grade) and watching the skyscrappers come down, people running from the white smoke cloud and the people jumping from those towers to their deaths Live :emofish:

It was such an eerie-scary day. Looked more like a movie. The frenzy all over the media was insane. Never seen something of that scale in my country :gaycat4:
one of the most evil things in human history

It was the 11th anniversary of Sandy Hook yesterday. Very much on my mind as well as the faces of those children.

Shameful close to nothing has been done.

I obviously wasn’t alive when it happened but anything relating to Hiroshima / Nagasaki. The stories, personal accounts, pictures, and aftermath are really frightening.

the 2011 norway massacre. the HD uncensored pics of so many teenager’s bodies was all over the mainstream media because news crews arrived at the remote and open location of the shooting while it was still ongoing. it was a huge death toll and all from just one lone perpetrator.

along with just the thought of being trapped on a small isolated island with someone free to walk around shooting hundreds of people, uninterrupted, for 90 mins. :mazen: there’s actually a dramatised movie on netflix - which is a tough watch but i’d recommend - it’s based entirely on police records so is true to the actual day and realistic. also accounts for the trial of the gunman which is interesting in itself.

9/11 definitely. I was young but old enough to grasp the severity of the attack.

The Sandy Hook mass shooting since it happened about an hour from me and I went to school with someone who lost a family member that day

It baffles me how biased historians and Israel are still trying to discredit the 1948’s Nakba. I’ve recently watched the Israeli documentary, Tantura. Didn’t finish it, it was too disturbing and enraging how are we failing as a humanity.

Honestly I think I've become numb to it all at this point in my life. It probably didn't help that I was exposed to 9/11 footage 24/7 as a young child and watched it all play out live. Nothing surprises me anymore.

Sandy Hook and especially Uvalde since it happened recently. Elementary school shootings are the most evil act mankind can commit.
