Yes it is, lol. Just because now there’s a progressive/socialist left side since Trump 2015 (arguably), doesn’t mean the Democratic side hasn’t historically been left leaning.

The dem party platform is centrist. The presence of outlier “progressive”/“socialist” politicians in the caucus doesn’t change the party ideology. The dem party is to the right of several other left wing parties present in other Western “liberal democracies.”

Left wing parties are losing almost everywhere. The problem is deeper. If I was American I would definitely vote for Biden. It's scary that someone like Trump could win again.

Imagine if the US had a left wing party

I’d still say it’s more left leaning. Maybe the US never had a true “left party” because those ideologies didn’t exist/weren’t popular enough until recent days?

The Dem party under FDR and even LBJ was certainly left leaning but post Reagan, that definitely isn’t the case.

If they aren’t and Republicans are right wing while Independents are in the centre, what are they? Lol.

They're also a right wing party. It's a stretch to even call them centrists.

Dems are just slightly more to the left of any far-right party than the Republicans(though the Republicans are pretty much already a far-right party)

Republicans = Far-right, theocratic, fascistic.

Independents = Varying political ideologies

Democrats = Center-right political Party with some socially liberal virtue signalling

What exactly do you personally define the term "left-wing" as?

Even if a country doesn't have a viable socialist party, a left-wing party would normally be at least anti-capitalist.

And even if you move away from ideological labels, and focus on policy, what kind of left-wing policy do a majority of Democrats support?

Socializing medicine and having the bare minimum of abolishing private insurance is easily agreed upon as a left-wing view of healthcare.

Only 30% of Senate Dems are co-sponsors on Medicare For All.

Only 51% of House Dems are co-sponsors on Medicare For All (with the real number lower as some co-sponsorships have been proven as false)

The POTUS, the leading figure of the Democratic Party, said he would veto Medicare For All if passed by Congress.

Under Biden, Democrats have actually been keeping alive a Trump-era policy that is helping to privatize and sell-off Medicare to private insurers!

Democrats are quite literally famous for being proud supporters of neoliberal policy, which directly places them at direct-odds of left-wing policy.

Yes Biden is done for good. His chances for winning are almost zero.

Everyone seems to have growing disdain for him. Literally every policy decision made has been awful and it’s so fascinating to see the gov’t so actively vote against 300 million people’s interests

That is their job, republicans are just better at tricking people into voting against their own interests than democrats are. The state is there to secure the interests of the ruling class, not of the general population/working class people.

 At this point I’m voting in hopes we get to see a 2028 election and it’s not Don Jr. in a pass the torch ceremony.

I didn't think about this, but that is quite scary and real that it could happen.

It’s crazy how we’ve gotten so bad as a country that some people (myself included) are actually nostalgic for the Trump era. At least we were just embarrassing then, but now we’re embarrassing and poor

Yes, but the lack of actual discernible ability to mask it has been lost across the years

Even Trump being convicted won’t save the Dems. I think Desantis could also win the general.
