This is one of my favorite pop culture moments ever.

No one could've predicted it and she left us all with our mouths open, mesmerized by her brilliance. Videos for every song, the change and maturity in styles and themes, the experimentation with the sounds... the way most people have written her off and she came out with arguably the magnum opus of her career, elevating her career to the next level. She was no longer Beyoncé, she was THEE Beyoncé. It was truly something to behold.

This project has not yet been matched by anyone since then, other than Beyoncé herself.

Probably the most shocking release I’ve ever lived through. I remember all of my school talking about it the next day, even the teachers. Not to mention the news mania. It was crazy. Then all the vine memes of Drunk in Love :rip:

Sucks that she barely even touched it after its release though because that album had at least three more smashes on it to promote. Her best work.

"Haunted" / "Ghost" is dare I say her finest moment ever. "Drunk in Love" is up there too. I still crave a whole album in the vein of those two.

Actually changed the industry.

Album marketing hasn't been the same since. The way doing a digital only release, a surprise release or putting an album out without a single are all industry standards now because of this album and its success.

The album that got me into her. Her best album, tbh.

I still remember where I was at that exact moment.  A body of work that holds up. :jonny4:

This was such a bittersweet moment for me, since I was dealing with a loss in my family. But, when I was finally able to fully immerse myself in the album and the overall era—I was living it up. It was a grand moment overall; such a fun time!

The true beauty of music! Happy you had that album to enjoy while simultaneously dealing with something difficult personally.

Ugh, the way she gagged everyone, plus the acclaim, the sales, the never ending impact. Truly a pioneer and risk taker. A legendary moment.

Girl, the woman was predicted by many to FLOP and do less than 100k but she did 1 MILLION in 10 days

*5 days

OT: An actual MOMENT. You can see why some people are still bitter in here about it. :fan:

Still her best album, the music, the visuals, the whole special mood of the album

Her spectacular detachment from the random Popstar to a legend in the making :clap3:

No Angel,Superpower, Rocket ,Haunted Heaven still melt my ears :heart2:

I feel like she needed this release with the eighteen music videos for free because the quality wasn't there so she needed a gimmick. The album hasn't endured the test of time, it’s dated and very of its time.

Time for a break Alexz :toofunny3:

I absolutely love this album! I loved how she teased songs during her Mrs. Carter tour so we were expecting them to be released at some point, but the surprise release alongside the visual experience were a fantastic idea. She had something to prove and she did it!

Her best body of work to date for sure

The definition of a cultural reset. A genre-bending rule-shattering classic.
It was my favorite Bey album until Renaissance. Partition is still my favorite song ever. The way she’s able to make albums so diverse but still so cohesive is incredible.

Stans love to throw the term "industry changing" easily, but this actually changed the game. I would argue it's her best album, thought both of her follow ups are really strong in their own ways.
