The bitterness and lack of braincells are REAL. sales and chart records are not culture, they are commerce and yes it is through PR and marketing that you get those 1 1
Yakult Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 BC Jean? Jessie James? Can’t think of any country/pop acts who have had a WW push like Taylor tbh.
s-60staliniec Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 depends how you measure it By quality ofc not ( in my opinion its Bjork in this category) by cultural influance ofc not ( in my opinion its either gaga with huge mainstream infulance or Kate Busch with huge influance on sub alt cultures and immpact on music making) by recognizibility probobably no maybe in the us but outisde of it shes only known by gen z and late milenials who moslty hate her so no( in my opinion wordlwide its either selena gomez or Schakira) by best live performance heck no ( shess mid at best .in my opinion maybe Billie idk im not realy into live music) by the amount of money made- probably altho idk and dont really care

I am very certain that she will be remembered in the future, especially since she is already in the history books. That doesnt mean it is cultural impact, thats just YET AGAIN great marketing lol Cultural impact is literally when you shift the present culture. Taylor is only shifting her own units and ensuring 'she' gets noticied/remembered in the future. Nothing 'cultural' about that.
Asscatchem Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 (edited) why isn't she using her cultural impact to speak up regarding to the most pressing issue in the world at the moment? Edited December 6, 2023 by Asscatchem 1

Also I don't understand why Gaga is listed there. Taylor has been miles bigger than her years ago. factualy incorect

A lot of the time when people like something or someone intensely, they'll come to feel differently about that person or thing a few years later, as if it was cringey or a phase in their life that they don't recognise anymore because they've grown or changed a lot. No doubt she'll probably overcome it though, just like she's done every time before. What you said is true. But i think the main point is the artists you once loved now released uninspired music that you cannot connect with. Im a big fan of Britney/Usher/Alicia Keys but stop actively talk about them like 10 years ago. If they go on tour near me, i would definitely go though. And im rooting for Usher Superbowl comeback. While in Taylor cases, i have been a fan since 2008 and still stan hard because she still feeds us with good music and i just grow old with her, if artist continue to release good material then i think their stardom wont fade.
kyoshi Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 It started again a long time ago throw all buzzwords, overanalyze and thinkpiece everything she does to death, whatever helps yall cope
truthteller Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 when she runs for the President of the US and everyone starts to call her war criminal
AvadaKedavra Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Jana Kramer? Cassade Pope? I also remember how Pharell pushed Alyssa Bernal (Youtube Star) as some sort of Latino Taylor Swift Everyone wanted a piece of the taylor swift cake back then

It's not a zero sum game - executives might identify a lot of features in Taylor that they'd like a new signing to have, but it doesn't come at the expense of Taylor's own success. Lots of successful artists can co-exist. Being the blueprint is flattering. Taylor Swift is a paranoid malignant narcissist so it's not lost on us that she would feel threatened and use the situation to further victimize herself. 3 6
Zoomer Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Sweetie it’s not a group project. Trying to associate a legend like Taylor to a pedo supporting degenerate coke head like Nicki. Plus, why would labels try to ‘replace’ something that was never that big in the first place? 💀

Michael196 Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 You’re comparing Taylor to a woman that was doing everything behind the scenes to prevent any female rapper to breakout for almost a decade, in fear of overshadowing her. And have been of the rails ever since one came and finally stopped her and opened the door for the slew of women that have been breaking out for the past half a decade… 1 1
