It’s just a dumb award. It relegates the achievements these films actually did to just the money they made, while giving a hand out to popular film just for being popular.

Meh. I see it as a way to celebrate movies that saw unprecedented success but would not stand a chance in the other more technical categories. It's an added category anyway, so it's not like it's taking a spot from the 30 something other ones.

We love a successful tour movie that met the criteria :clap3:

I guess they experienced the enlightenment when they made up this category to honor and thank Taylor for saving yet another industry this year!

The bitterness already. Yet if their fave got this nomination they will attack Taylor first and say something like “wHiTe MeDioCriTy LosT” or something. The hypocrisy! :bibliahh:

First time hearing about a box office category.

And what’s even the point on having nominees? like… aren’t them going to award the highest grossing films of the year AKA Barbie anyway?

No, they won’t. They will vote the one that they think is more impressive. Barbie numbers are more impressive than a Marcel movie with $50 M more and they may consider more impressive that a movie like Oppenheimer does 1 B than Barbie…

Only the most successful tour and tour movie all of time :clap3:

Because it grosses on par with the highest grossing movies of the year. Not everyone has that. No one else has ever had that tbh. This is not the "Best Tour" category. You all can chill.

? Highest grossing movie is 1.4B

Eras Tour is at 250M?

It’s barely Top 20 on the YE chart. Not sure how you made this conclusion like it’s a Top 5 movie

Everyone knows this category is a joke/part of them trying to rebrand and increase the viewership; this was an easy nominee for them to slot in. They also added in a Best Standup Comedian category or something to that effect. The film was obviously a success but this really isn't an accolade to brag about lol

Interesting, apparently it’s a new category that was announced in September and I somehow missed it :rip:

Uh it very much is. Even more so for a concert movie smashing like a blockbuster. :clap3:

Her getting a nomination based on success and not talent is very fitting for her and her fans lol.

Thankfully, it is also the most acclaimed concert film of the year :clap3:

The Golden Globes are done, they are now owned by a Billionaire (as of this year) and this is the first time they cannot even find a host.

It did not. On the list of highest-grossing movies of the year, it's #20. They are definitely pandering to the Swifties with this nomination hoping they will watch and hoping Taylor will attend. Realistically Barbie should win this, but I can almost guarantee they will give it to Taylor

Not true. They merged the TV supporting categories into one for this dumb (and the new stand-up) category. https://www.goldderby.com/feature/golden-globes-eliminate-tv-categories-add-box-office-category-1205564400/

The way I knew this thread would be filled with whining before even entering.

Congrats to Taylor for her nomination for the biggest concert film of all time, we love to see the recognition and acclaim

Good. They have too many categories anyway. Yes Eras Tour Movie, yes unprecedented box office smash.

That's very impressive for a concert movie, in the US, it's #10! That's crazy. It basically saved theaters during the strike. I'm sure that also factored into the nomination. Or else they'd just nominate the highest grossing, which isn't what this award seems to be about. :clap3:

of course Taylor Swift gets her ass kissed by the disgraced, corrupt organization that got literally and figuratively cancelled for accepting bribes and kickbacks and for having zero black voting members as late as 2021 :bibliahh: Enjoy those nominations, swiftis

They’ve been a joke award for some time now. Idk why some people still give it importance.

The Golden Globes are literally known for selling nominations and awards. I’m not saying that it is the case of this particularly film, but the GG became such a meaningless award, that it’s funny to see some people bragging about it.
