Sampling isn't new lol - in fact its extremely common for 21st century music. Just because you're more familiar with the samples Nicki used doesn't make the practice new.  I didn't see the same energy when Cardi's first two #1s also involved heavy sampling. Ya'll are just haters - if the song is good, it's good. who tf cares about what it samples

Errrrr you're talking about industry awards? The post was about being in demand? How much was Queen Latifah selling 14 years into her mainstream career and were people hungry for her music? I think that's the question.

THROW IT, CatchIt!

Not a Nicki fan but give credit where credit is due folks.

The performance of this record, even if it's just for a week, has basically cemented Nicki as a music icon.

change that to rap legend and we’ll give it to you

So now y’all are claiming that there was always enough interest in Nicki for people to “check out her album” after insisting she’s a has-been flop month after month? Whatever helps you cope I guess.

Right? Just days ago there were people saying her album was not making any noise outside of Twitter and the fan base

Let’s see how well it holds up, we all know the trajectory of Onika projects after the first few weeks.

She is the Queen of Rap

I'll switch like a f*g except I am here for her dropping off drastically second week if she has a good opening week and stays consistent I'll give her her flowers especially when Cardi should've been on CB3 by now :rip:

Not her shamelessly sampling Move Your Feet and calling it a day.

Lazy. I hate this time in music. It's only samples that are not even reworked to make the song different

This is such a hater comment cuz she didn’t even rip the melody of that song jsjdhfjfjfnfnjd like yall are so ridiculous

Queen Latifah was nominated for an acting Oscar 14 years after her mainstream debut album (2003) and scored a number one box-office film the same year with “BDTH”.

She was also nominated for two Grammy’s for her jazz cover album the following year, winning one.

She would win an acting Emmy and Golden Globe award 25+ years after her debut (2016).

LMFAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOOO not taking anything away from Queen Latifah but notice how NOTHING you just mentioned had a damn thing to do with RAP?

Nicki is the ONLY female rapper to ever remain relevant this long for her music.

Am I surprised the first album in 5 years from a hugely successful artist is being streamed a lot day one? No.

But let’s see how it holds under the weight of the heavily mixed response it’s gotten out of listeners.

that -70% will be amazing :santa:

It's honestly a cute album, with some really fun moments. Stans are doing too much but I think they expected something more serious from her this time around but I love that it feels like she was just having a good time making these songs.

I am tbh considering the album had next to no rollout besides Gag City :skull:
