White Privilege repeaked again with Taylor Swift. nothing surprising here.

btw her music remains unknown and uninfluential outside of white culture.

Too bad she’s #1 in China, the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam, about 2 billion people & 1/4 of the worlds population.

you’ll just have to wait till your corner of the world to be become important enough in the music market to have taymormamia spread there as well

So being proud of your achievements and accolades is now being narcissistic? Can you pin point the exact sentence that made you go "oh wow, she's being full of herself"?

Oh they want her to downplay the success and scale of achievements she has this year and be humble so that they could scream “ungrateful” to her and being a “fake” human.

You can’t really win with these kind of people since they are so miserable in their life. So, just pity them or ignore them.

I think her record-breaking commercial success came for the same reasons and from the same things as what led to her being named Person of the Year. Her numbers are an effect, not a cause; a symptom, not a source.

Those reasons being?

If that’s what thee ATRL user Taemira says then it must be true!

Thank you for your input that is surely based on FACTS and not just on your PERSONAL OPINION! Apparently TIME, Forbes, Billboard, Rolling Stones, and other prestigious publications are irrelevant because thee user ATRL Taemira contradicts it! Just… wow.

Seeing “the Philippines” irks me so bad. Delete “the”.

OT: Should be Person Of The Year in Philippines too! :clap3:

Factually incorrect when you observe her dominance in Asia and Latin America. Numbers don’t lie. Her streaming numbers and her touring numbers indicate there is multicultural influence at play here. But I guess if you want to live in an alternate reality I can’t stop you!

Btw: I never cared about some imaginary impact that those flopped faves bring up,

it just shows their lives to be unfulfilling or they just didn’t get enough love from their parents & had to turn to a celebrity they have no personal connection to impact their lives.

but even more embarrassing than that is when swifties actually getting baiting and herded into participating in these tragic dialogues.

But it’s all ok - next time you see another delulu raving about impact, just give a standard response of “looks like all your imaginary impact was pointless or minuscule since it’s not enough to even put your fave in the finalist of person of the year, let alone winning it”

just paste that and move on. Let them deal with the fact that whatever impact their faves might or might not have will never amount anything compared to the year taylor has had.

Her 4th AOTY win next year will be cherry on the top to encapsulate her achievement in 2023.

congrats, we cannot deny that she has had a huge year, and shows no signs of slowing down. Hopefully this pushes her even further and some more great pop bops come along :clap3:

it is refreshing to see a woman being the apex of the entertainement industry, i feel the last time we've had that was adele 25 but she comes and goes (like houdini)

That people like her and her music. And there are so many that like her and her music that she’s experiencing one of the biggest commercial peaks in music history. And this frenzy with which people are consuming her music and artistry made her a clear contender for person of the year.

What kind of answer were you looking for here? :rip:

We're in the absolute worst timeline. :rip:

The world is on fire from climate change, we're edging towards World War 3, the US is about to enter a period of fascism, and the most impactful person is....Taylor Swift? :psyduck:

If I were a Swiftie, I'd be low key embarrassed by this.

You could tell by the reactions of the real journalists in this MSNBC segment how silly they think this choice is.  Literal mocking and laughter.

When Zelensky won last year, the Editor-and-Chief of Time Magazine came on Morning Joe to talk about their selection. They do it every year.  This year, it looked like a hostage video.

“She’s only Person of the Year because she sold so much!!”

no **** :rip: is this supposed to be some sort of “gotcha!”? Why wouldn’t her commercial dominance be the reason

If you watch the video with the editor of time, he barely mentions commercial success. He cites her "bringing joy", "soft power", and "making headlines".

You can talk about your career and yourself without coming off narcissistic.

And can comment on an article without fully displaying you have not read the article by actually reading the article

Let's pray. No one else deserves more than her.

Yes but these are only noteworthy mentions because of the scale of it all. There are plenty of other artists doing those exact same things but because Taylor is doing it in such insane volume it’s more impressive, no?

I guess what I’m trying to say is - Her influence this year is directly tied to how well she’s done commercially.

You talking about white privilege while proclaiming Morgan Wallen to be the hottest male popster is insane :deadbanana4:

The only mocking and laughter caused here is by your comment in which you are trying to use your ill-rooted interpretation to downplay all of this. But thank you for that. :celestial6:

The cause of her popularity, like the person mentioned. I want to see what her fans think are the qualities that make her so popular.

Her music. Good music, good lyrics, writing that forges a sense of community and connection. That causes the sales, that causes the headlines, that causes the awards, that causes things like being named person of the year. The foundation of her success is not success itself, or success for its own sake, but the music that she makes that brings countless people worldwide connection and joy.
