I’ll never understand this woman’s popularity but congrats to her. :clap3:

Like you've never seen anyone like her before?

I think she’s an intelligent and ambitious businesswoman, yes, and I’m certain that helps her. I have no illusions about whether she wants it or not, trust me - I like her more because she wants it all and she wants it openly. It remains true, however, that no artist in the world - even those with similarly confessional writing, or more poetic lyricism, or similar ambitions - has music that is connecting with people on the scale that Taylor’s is right now. I think that part of that is something unique to her writing, specifically. Maybe we can say it’s the combination of her business and marketing approach with that music that’s made her career into this lightning-in-a-bottle epic scale thing, but the music is still a core piece of it. If it wasn’t due in large part to the music itself, we wouldn’t be having this conversation. Making material that is bad or even merely passable wouldn’t get even the most shrewd, calculating, and singularly focused artist meaningfully far in terms of success.

Yes, it is called 'white privilege' and 'unnabashed capitalism', and it is present on all aspects of her, her identity, writing and marketing plans.

Nothing literally nothing about her is organic. Everything is thought out as a marketing ploy. Why do you think she is talking about Kim K AGAIN in her TIME Magazine profile? Because it leads well into her promo for her next re-recording.

Plus, the level of delusion on display here are beyond. Imagine thinking this is sane/healthy:

This is pre-teen 'i'm so edgy and the whole world is against ME!' levels of delusion and you're all stuck on your pre-teen fantasies if this is your queen.

Like... a 'goth punk moment of female rage'... this is not ******* serious and actually quite insulting to actual goth and punk female-led movements and musicians. Capitalist crap, stupid, vapid and boring.

Aren't you the guy that said in another thread that you don't care? You're definitely showing a lot of caring here.

The cause of her popularity, like the person mentioned. I want to see what her fans think are the qualities that make her so popular.

The Philippines is correct.  Do you say the United States or United States? The Philippines is derived from the abbreviation of "the Philippine islands".

LOL convince a foreigner, not me. It’s the Republic of the Philippines. Philippines is correct. It’s the name of our country. What does US have to do with our country’s naming convention? :rip:

It’s colonial mentality to keep using “Las Islas Filipinas” or “The Philippine Islands.”

Reducing a woman’s achievement to how she looks. Blatant sexism right here.

if the cover wasn't important the magazine wouldn't be published or exist

stop being stupid

I care about art yes, and I do care about how it is being bastardised by a mediocre artist hungry for money and fame, that's all. I don't care about Taylor Swift herself or her music, no :hippo:

“The Philippines” is also correct. “Philippines” l is informal and only used in beauty pageants. The official name of our country is Republic of the Philippines, as opposed to Republic of Vietnam, Republic of Korea, etc.

Similar to how the Kingdom of the Netherlands is different from Kingdom of Belgium, Kingdom of Thailand, etc.

The article “the” will always be there.

Anyway, Taylor is the Queen of the Philippines. Now and forever.

Hmmm, you do show up a lot in her threads. If you admit that you clearly care too much about her, I can just let it go, otherwise, don't say you don't care about her.

There is a "Person of the Year" event to be held on Dec. 12, 2023 in New York City:

Quote

For nearly a century, TIME has named the person or group who has had the greatest influence on the world for that year. This designation has grown to become one of the most anticipated global media events of the year. We have expanded this recognition to the most influential people in specific sectors. It all culminates in an exclusive invite-only evening including cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and onstage conversations with select designees for a year-end celebration.

TIME Events

Taylor is in all likelihood attending. :lakitu:

LOL as mentioned in another post, I don't care about Taylor or her music my darling, however I do care about being shoved her mediocre shite in front of me at every turn and every platform all the time. It's exhausting. But I particularly care more about the bastardisation of art by a mediocre lady who is basically just good at manipulating people to think she is any good at being a musician or singer, or that she cares about anything else other than her bank account. And also particularly care about the existence of billionaires or people even aspiring to be that, because it is literally an indictment of how rotten capitalism is.

That, I do care a lot about. But sure, I hope you are enjoying pretending/believing this is about Taylor at all. She is nothing but the latest 'face' of these issues.

Person of The Year is not supposed to be about celebrating an escape from reality.  It's the literal opposite. It's supposed to be a serious choice to be engaged with, and a time capsule for generations to look back on and understand what was happening in the world at the time. The choice of Taylor says nothing about the state of world in 2023.  It's just about her.  Even previously controversial choices 2006's "You" (the rise youtube/social media), Zuckerburg, and Greta Thunberg had more substance than this.

Sam Altman actually had more real impact than Taylor, since his leadership in AI was a catalyst for the Hollywood Strikes, shifts in social media, and arguably will have greater impact on the music industry and copyright than Taylor will ever have. Her "impact" was media interest, and temporary economic booms similar to any other large event.  Oh, and "happiness and joy".

The 2006 winner was literally just YouTube content creators

Shouldn’t you be on a Mozart forum then and not a site created to talk about Britney Spears? I care about art 💀
