The Traitors UK | 3rd season to begin filming soon, celebrity version coming 2025

They need to do something about the unlimited recruitments :deadbanana4:

There's literally no incentive for the faithfuls to try to catch traitors until the last 2-3 roundtables.  Other than that they always get replaced.

I wanna start watching this after watching the US, is it worth it?

I was rooting for Harry but I feel like Paul's cockiness has transferred to him now. Now I'm not really rooting for anyone in particular as they've all had their dumb moments.

Yes!!! I prefer the UK version because you don’t know what to expect from the contestants, as they’re not reality show celebrities.

(I still like the US version because it’s so full of unnecessary drama and attention seeking lol)

Why are people so rude towards Paul? It's a game show and he's playing a role :skull:

I love how he’s doing it, but i hate the cockiness. But from an strategic perspective, standing ovation 👏🏼

I want to like this season because the strategic gameplay is good but it is a bit too much of a sausage fest for me and the men (minus Jaz) are genuinely unlikable and not in a love to hate villain kind of way.

Claudia said it best: “Another man? Good, it’s like the olden days.”

I’m here for Ross taking Harry down though :duca:

Imagine the chaos if Ross announces he’s been recruited and declined before Harry reveals his shield at breakfast

I've been saying for ages, it's unbalanced. The best thing for the faithful is to not get them out until the very end otherwise you're back to square one each time :skull:

It's definitely a flaw in the game.

The best gameplay for a faithful until near the end is to play dumb.

I thought it could be up to 5 traitors in total, but I see that's not the case anymore.

Also, they should make traitors do something extra during the challenges, as currently other than getting a shield, it literally doesn't contribute to the gameplay.

Finished S1 and omg what an epic show :jonny: Amanda was absolutely the best participant and Aaron was a visual treat :allears:. I wish Tom, Matt and Alex would have stayed longer, their drama was giving CAMP

Predictable finale. Molly wanted that war criminal dick bad it cost her 50 grand.

Jaz remains KING :alexz:

I need them to cast more people with brains next season. It’s getting stale.

Soooo glad Harry won, so deserving :clap3:

Jazzatha Christie deserved!

Molly was really playing with her heart, not her head. Has she even watched the 1st season?

Not both seasons of Traitors UK having insane finales. Mollie girl :deadbanana2:

That was an enjoyable season for sure. I was happy with either outcome as either Harry had earned his win or Jaz had. In the end I think Jaz was a bit too low key in getting Mollie on his side but Harry dealt quite well when Jaz questioned him. Jaz choosing red at the end would've made no sense if he was a traitor unless there was still another traitor with him though.

Mollie was really stupid, she put her friendship over the game. She had Harry down and changed it last min.

Harry played it the way it needs to be played. Both seasons were so good and I can’t wait for season 3.

Deadline confirmed a celebrity version is (sadly) on the way. On a more positive note, looks like the 3rd civilian season is filming soon (probably this summer).

Their new format Destination X also sounds super fun.

Star traitors and faithfuls are set to face off on in the UK in a celebrity version of smash hit format The Traitors, which Deadline understands is set to launch on the BBC next year.

Several sources have told us that an agreement between Studio Lambert, which makes the UK and U.S. versions of The Traitors, and the BBC, which broadcasts it, is close. The hope is that the first celeb version will film next year and go out later in 2025, by which time three seasons of the "civilian" version will have aired. Host Claudia Winkleman is expected to present the celeb version.

The U.S. and UK versions of The Traitors — in which contestants live together and take part in challenges while seeking to uncloak the traitors among their number — are filmed back to back in a castle in Scotland. The producers could capitalize upon that model and record the celebrity version before or after these editions. Speaking to The News Agents podcast earlier this year, Studio Lambert boss Stephen Lambert had said a celeb version was "obviously a possibility."

Given the roster of big-name Traitors fans, Deadline is told the BBC has big ambitions for the caliber of guest it could attract, and will be aiming high. A recent promo casting call video featuring Courteney Cox had fans wildly speculating that the U.S. star would appear in a celebrity version. Elsewhere, Dawn French, Jennifer Saunders and Mary Berry all featured in a Celebrity Traitors sketch last year for Comic Relief.

The BBC and Studio Lambert have cast the UK version differently to the U.S. by going 100% non-celebrity for the former and hybrid celebrity-civilian for the latter. The latest U.S. season featured British celebrities including Love Island winner Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and ex-politician John Bercow.

In the UK, The Traitors has been a ratings juggernaut for the BBC. The season two finale was the most-watched show on UK television in the week in which it was broadcast. Applications to be on the "civilian" version of the show have skyrocketed, from a couple of thousand for the first season to 40,000 for Season 2, and a reported near-300,000 for Season 3, which will start shooting shortly.

Deadline recently revealed that The Traitors, which was created by Dutch prodco IDTV and is distributed internationally by All3Media International, was the format with the most new global sales last year, usurping The Masked Singer. A spate of new versions are set for 2024 and creator Marc Pos revealed a Banijay development deal earlier today.

Elsewhere, the BBC and NBCUniversal have turned their attention to Destination X, the latest series from the landmark partnership that birthed The Traitors in which contestants have to figure out mystery locations while on the road trip of a lifetime. Reluctant Traveller maker Twofour is producing the British and American versions and will begin shooting later this year.
