Because it didn't open everywhere. That's why.

like that would've made a significant difference considering its already opened in most major markets

Doesn’t she? Thinking an artist that have that much money and that makes brand deals with brands as huge as adidas doesn’t care about how much money they could make is just denial

She even brings her teen daughter on stage every night to make it a little more youth-likeable but seems the youth still don’t care

So, let me guess... you haven't seen the film and you think you know everything? I mean, it's not even a guess. If you had read at least some posts on the internet you would've known what the film says about topics you're attempting to discuss. Next time when you're entering a discussion, inform yourself on the subject, please.

Hmmm ... how so? It did 21M in the US and 6.4M elsewhere so far. That’s 27.4M in its first weekend. That’s more or less what was always estimated.

And why would it take her 25M to make this? She filmed the tour, that’s it. Essentially it’s a tour DVD shown in cinemas.

The Eras tour has $20M budget (offical number), and I thought Rene film's budget could only be higher, or at least at the same level.

Generally you need to gross triple of this number to recover the budget, cause the cinemas and distributions are going to take money from the box office. But considering it's different in both this and Taylor'case as they directly associate with the cinemas to avoid the commission, I think around $60M globally is the line.

Im talking about perception/relatability

Lead single Break My Soul is full of lines and references that can and are related to majority of people, especially “work by nine, then off past five”, etc.

Don’t get me wrong, I love some of Bey’s music and I love Renaissance, but this album in particular conveys themes of self-love, sex, flirt, among similar others, and those are not niche subjects whatsoever.

Anyway, her movie is doing pretty solid I would say. :clap3:

A movie has to do around 3x budget for being profitable. In this case with less marketing let’s say 2.5x if budget is 25 M then 62.5 M. I’m not that sure it will reach that amount

Don't be dense. They purposefully cropped out the one thing negative in that article, coming from a fanbase that did nothing but hate Beyonce all year :rip:

I felt like that article had things that shouldn't have been left out since it explains A LOT:

"More than 70 percent of those buying tickets to see Renaissance in the U.S. were female, while 52 percent were Black moviegoers in a win for diverse programming. Nearly 70 percent of all ticket buyers were between ages 18 and 34, including 43 percent between ages 25 and 34."

"No one expected Renaissance to do the same sort of business, considering her audience is older."

So essentially Beyonce was competing against films geared towards children :clap3:

The grosses seem even better with this context!

But of course, the "STEM" major conveniently leaves out any room for nuance for a miserable drag :coffee2:

Waiting for the OTHER one to show up in this thread. Maybe the weirdo Attack on Titan stan too if they're not on suspension :rip:

For this reason you called Taylor " H&M" and Beyoncé "Balmain" :deadbanana2:

It was a terrible comparation, nowadays no one can compete with Taylor, it doesn't matter if is Beyonce, Adele, Drake or the weekend

There is one artist you can compare her to - Ed Sheeran.

Same level of laserfocus on commercial appeal and success, just as wishy washy in his artistry, just as mass-appealing with no point of view in his music other than writing catchy pop songs about love.

Taylor outperformed among every demographics but black people and the gap was big.

When you include international numbers, the gap gets only bigger and bigger considering how Beyonce performed comparatively

What a surprise that a movie geared towards a majority white girl audience did better than a movie centered around Queer POC.

Do yall not take a second and realize what you're comparing ??

Clearly I haven’t seen such a movie why would I?

And even if so, you can never fully trust the words of an artist lol, whatever they say you need to understand are part of a much bigger discourse/presentation that they want to give to their audiences cause like it or not they are a brand they need to sell their product and their product is themselves.
