Wait, how on earth would you know that the songs wouldn’t have been hits? That’s an alternate timeline and you’re not psychic. By YOUR logic, no new artist would ever have a hit, since they don’t have a recognizable tone or whatever. Girl, go sit.

Ask Calvin Harris, who said "We Found Love" wouldn’t have been a hit if anybody else had sung it.

The GP isn’t buying Rihanna’s music because of her tone and voice. Give it up. The Navy should be content that their fave accomplished everything she has, considering the amount of talent doesn’t match the amount of success. Every big industry titan—Bey, Taylor, etc—has a talent they excel at. Everyone except Ms. Robbin’ Fenty. Must suck to be the Navy, having to subsist off charisma, tones, and fashions from their fave.

And I don’t listen to criticism about Taylor’s songwriting skills from people that read at a fourth grade level. I listen to what her songwriting peers have to say.:coffee2:

Fourth grade level? They must be learning that spelling is fun

And here’s an entire article by Pitchfork about Rihanna’s voice, tone and vocal delivery being the most influential in the industry:

There’s no need to engage with that troll, 1-2 hits is a fluke but there’s obviously a special talent when it comes to the best selling digital artist of all time with 14 #1 hits. If it were as easy as ~stealing~ songs, plenty of artists would be just as successful but that isn’t the case.

An ATRLer with too much time arguing about an artist they hate won’t change that

It doesn't matter what's in SZA's mind, but rather what's in the audience's mind after hearing SZA basically say "big artist Rihanna took away new song from aspiring new artist me, but it all worked out in the end!" And I don't know the story behind this and whether Rih is actually a thief, but either way I think it's ungrateful of SZA to be throwing shade at Rih when she pretty much jumpstarted her career.

Yes cuz the 5 other times she's told the media about this affected Rih streams and sales. Like bfr.

Imagine claiming that other people are at a fourth grade reading level yet you can’t even spell Robyn* correctly :rip:

“Robbin’” is clearly a pun in reference to the thread topic, since SZA’s claiming Rih “robbed” her of her song. If you didn’t read at a fourth grade level, you’d know that. Start with that Dr. Seuss you mentioned and then come back.

Rihanna literally featured her on the song, made sure she got her proper credit, gave her the first worldwide platform she ever performed at, was supporting her and going to her shows before she blew up. Like this narrative that she was this mean person that was out to do nothing but suck this girl dry is so dumb :deadbanana4:

If SZA had such a connection with the song, then she shouldn't have presented it. Period. And she wasn't some newbie and had spent several years in the industry by the time she was involved with Anti. And of course she can talk about it, but framing all this to make Rih the bad guy when she wasn't smart enough to keep the songs she wanted for herself outside of that session is something else :rip:

Great post.

The people bandwagon hating on the first page are so lame and ignorant. Atrl really does hate Rihanna :bibliahh:

So influential that her singing style is just a mimic of the original recording of the songs that end up with her.....

Sia wrote it? She's gonna sing exactly like Sia.

Bebe wrote it? You bet she'll sing exactly like Bebe.

SZA wrote it? Yeah I heard the demo, she's singing exactly like SZA too..

Taylor has tried mimicking Rihanna whilst singing Umbrella and TIWYCF and we all know how horrid that sounded.

That's because those are covers. Does it mean Rihanna only sings covers?

Yes she covers the songs and makes them sound better than the original. Question is, can Taylor do this? Noooooo, never!!!

There's a reason why we have SZA, Zara Larson, etc trying to sound like her. She has the most influential voice in pop music, argue with the reputable music critic Pitchfork, kor me!!!

Poor Sza. These writing camp artists are not new to stealing someone else's music.

Rihanna is not an artist. She's basically a glorified lipsyncer with a pretty face. That's why she ditched music the minute money started coming from elsewhere.

She may not be a creator or musician, but I would argue that being the vessel and face of others’ art makes her a part of the creative process.

What does that have to do with anything? :deadbanana2:

And SZA's a songwriter on both those albums  :rip:

When this site is finally done using her to drag other (Black) artists, they'll be dragging her too the first moment of a commercial slip

Does it matter? She's about to have TWO Diamond hits from that time period. ( Needed Me probably is already eligible). Like I said....you made it sound like she was desperate when she wasnt.

Except it’s not. I suggest you clean your ears and go argue with Pitchfork.
