Vogue

Every other song by Madonna and Gaga on their albums

Every other song recorded by Madonna and Gaga before they were famous that were never finished

Large Margin

Every other song by any other artist

Another margin

YNTCD

The only factual response to OP! :celestial5:

Vogue took a trend started in the gay underground and brought it to the mainstream while using the music video to spotlight its originators (Jose and Luis were part of the ballroom scene) and has become an enduring classic and one of Madonna's signature songs.

Born this Way is fine but kind of clunky and cringe. I respect her for throwing her support behind the community but some of the lyrics have aged very badly and the song didn't really have the impact and longevity it was intended to. It's a Pride staple though, I guess.

The other one is a pr exercise that only happened become it was commercially beneficial, like everything else she does.

"Vogue" and it's not even close.  Born This Way was a big event, but in retrospect, it came and went pretty quickly.  Vogue, on the other hand, has transcended generations.  Isn't the new dance craze at the clubs right now literally vogueing?

Taylor has done nothing for the gay community as far as I'm aware.

Yes, people vogue but it's not because of Madonna. Not to downplay the importance of Vogue, because it's one of Madonna's best and most impactful songs of her career and introduced voguing to a slew of heteronormative fans who would have not known about it at the time otherwise. But the vogue scene has been a strong aspect of the LGBT community for years and if anything, you have the introduction of queer characters on shows like Drag Race that has popularized voguing for the new generation.

Will I be attacked by the Madinos if I say that it's Born This Way?

We have to give it to Madonna for putting the House of Xtravaganza on her world stage, though.

BTW has a bit of a funny message. I'm not a freak lmao. And she did this after the height of metrosexualism xd

Vogue takes queer culture, which was actually seen as something horrible and disease ridden, and appreciated it, and made it look like something cool

Madonna introduced her audience to queer people. Lady Gaga alienated her audience for queer people.

Notice how LGBTQ+ acceptance has been declining since 2019

I see some causation here

If that namedropping was so influential then why can't you just type out the entire acronym when you talk about it?

It definitely depends on the demo you're asking. Vogue obviously mainstreamed at a lot of queer culture, but BTW had a different impact (probs more mental health-related) to a newer generation.

Vogue for Tops

As much as people like to **** on BTW, Gaga dedicated the lead single to her highly anticipated comeback after her peak era to out loud sing ‘no matter gay, straight or bi, lesbian transgender life, I’m on the right track baby you were born to survive’ and I think that’s worth something :michael:

The answer is still Vogue, but BTW isn’t a weird contender

The other pinkwashing cash grab one however…
