Assassin Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 (edited) Quote AMC Entertainment’s second concert film theatrical release, Renaissance: A Film by Beyonce, fired up last night with $5M previews from showtimes that began at 7PM. While that figure is higher than the Thursday night previews for AMC’s Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour which did $2.8M, you’ll remember that previews for that Sam Wrench-directed movie were announced literally two days before its release. Hence, Eras Tour, which posted the biggest opening at the domestic box office this fall with $92.8M, cannot be used as a comp here to Renaissance. Given Beyonce’s pull on older audiences, particularly women (those over 25 showed up at 53%), an opening in the vicinity of $15M-$20M is expected, and indeed, last night’s ticket sales are considered to be frontloaded. Knowles is a 44 year old woman, currently 27 years into her career. People wanted to see “Hannah Montana”, not Cyrus which was the entire point of the concert film in the first place. I don’t see the comparison. Edited November 28, 2023 by GoodGuyGoneGhetto 2 3 1
Maxxie Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 Well done to Bey. This is impressive and deserved, Rennie is the best album of 2022.

Kingdom Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 Mind you, this does not include latin america (it airs there on dec 21). She has already sold over 60k tickets alone.
wish Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 Why are we now bringing Miley into this?? Find the plot real quick guys. Amazing numbers, what a legend 1
reymiu Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 It's not coming to where I live (Southeast Asia country) The movie distributors here probably think it won't make much (our country hasn't listened to B since 4 era, she completely abandons SEA market for 10+ years) or competition among other movies is stiff right now. Still I'm sad not to see this in a theater :(
