Seems like the people that don't get it are the bast majority :sorry:

Having the biggest song doesn't necessarily mean you have the best song. I mean look at Jack's song Lovin On Me that came out the week absolutely pummeling Houdini on the charts but I cannot be convinced that LOM is a better song than Houdini. LOL. LOM ended up being the current #1 song in multiple countries, but it's really not that good.

Dua released a song that generally pleased her fans like me and that's all I can ask for.  People who expected Houdini to perform like DSN out the gate were setting expectations too high. People like Taylor and Rihanna who got smash lead singles every single era are exceptions and not the norm. Lead singles don't always smash hard. It's okay, she'll move on.  Its also not over yet. No non-christmas songs will be doing anything noteworthy on the chart for the remainder of the year anyway.

The US has completely said no to Houdini... anyone banking on this song to resurge in 2024 should just give up now.

Sadly I think it has to do with the production, which is less polished and more "gritty" than Dua's past hits. The melody also isn't the strongest in terms of pure catchiness. Sucks bc I actually like this song from her, I would've loved to see it blow up.

Good to know that paying to force streaming services to push horrible music down people's throats sometimes fails. It was been a successful method many times in Dua Lipa's career, but not this time, i'm afraid.

Who said Jack's song is better? The reality is Houdini is flopping no one is discussing the song's quality stay on topic babes. She lives off people streaming her music so 4 fans liking it actually doesn't help her

Those who get it, get it. And those who don't, don't.  :gayalipacat3:

Remember what everyone said about Levitating and it left top 10 airplay before crawling back to #1 to become the biggest smash of the year

Remember everyone saying Dance the Night was flopping before it became a top 10 multiweek hit

She's the definition of longevity. No one wants a single on top for 2 weeks and then plummeting out of the top 10

As a fan, the song isn’t repeatable. I appreciate it when I hear it but I don’t want to go back for more.

The production happened.:suburban: Thank god for Dua’s vocals cuz that’s the only redeeming quality of the song. And I blame Danny L Harle for the production (cuz he was the main producer). It’s true that he previously did some great stuff (like Dua’s YSL Freedom 90 cover or Carly Rae Jepsen‘s Super Natural) BUT he also did a lot of Caroline Polachek’s songs, which are truly bad (see her latest song Dang - that thing is awful) so he is a mix bag. My dilemma is why didn’t she release the Ian Kirkpatrick material she did for DL3? It’s proven that all his songs to date are lead materials (New Rules, DSN)

Success stans will always be funny :ahh:

Dua Perry, I fear.

song is a bop at least!

It sucks :marshmallow:

I've heard the song once and then never again. It's not a bad song but quite generic and boring (like so many pop songs these days).

Me, a success stan? WTF... My most streamed song this year is a song by Dua - Crocodile Tears. The fact that i didn’t like Houdini doesn’t make me less of a fan. It’s just her DL3 material as of now is not my taste. One of my absolute favourite songs by Dua is Can They Hear Us? and that song flopped flopped so no, I’m not a success stan

I completely forgot about it.

It’s simply not lead single material

I liked the preview a lot, but that's the only part of the song that sounds fresh.

I usually don't agree with those who say that all of her music sounds the same since FN, but Houdini certainly isn't something new from her. We needed something else. Something unique.

For a Dua lead that’s not good and it looks like it continues to go down

I'll never understand why her and Olivia ditched their old management after such monstrous eras:rip:

Mods should make one "Houdini flopped. Why?" megathread where Dua haters can circlejerk each other about the song's chart perfomance.

Great idea! Can you please link me to some others so I can merge them?
